Managed to get your thumbdrive? Compact flash is a storage card, normally used for digital camera. Just like SD card, MMC, XD, Memory stick.

Flash drive is actually a brand name, they manufacture thumb drives.

 

Btw Huggable uses a 512MB XD card, with a card reader as thumb drive. Plus point is that the card can be used with my Fuji camera, and I can easily "expand" by buying more XD cards, and not restricted by the fixed size of a thumb drive.

I've got my Fujifilm 512MB XD card at S$259 in June last year. Now it should cost around S$150 or less.

Yeah. A memory card and a small card reader can easily function as a thumb drive as well. Get a memory card that u can use for your other digital devices as well, like maybe an MMC or RSMMC card which u can share with the phone, or an SD or XD card which u can also use with your PDA or camera.

 

This way you'll have both a thumb drive and also additional memory for your other devices. Get the right memory card. There'll be a small card reader for every type.

 

I got a small MMC/RSMMC card reader and a 256MB MMC from Sim Lim for around $75, cos my phone n camera uses MMC too. :smile:

Agreed. You can make your choise based on 2 approaches:

Common storage: If you have digicam, PDA, etc, all using the same media type.

Cheapest media: I believe SD cards are currently the cheapest, based on $-per-MB. Small too!

I know these days 512mb thumbdrive cos less then $100 and PC show is coming in March. I think the deals will be better there.
