[NEW] Motorist Companion Application for Bikers/Drivers(Pls come in support my proj)

Hi Guys!

 

I'm actually taking part in a competition called SCS Splash Awards, it's basically a competition

held by SCS(Singapore Computer Society) for High Schools and Institute of Higher Learning(IHL). I'm taking part in the IHL category.

 

My project is an iPhone App called Motorist Companion. As the name suggests, it is meant to assist motorists in their day-to-day journey. The application would come packed with many features, the 3 main features Rain Avoidance, Accident Claims Recording & Vehicle Breakdown(Roadside Assistance).

 

I'll be explaining the features in the next post below.

I'll explain the 3 main features here.

 

1) Rain Avoidance: There is actually 2 parts to this feature. [Mainly geared towards bikers, but helpful for drivers too]

 

a) Rainfall Zone Alerts : As the name suggest, it basically alerts you as you're approaching a rainfall zone in real-time. Users have the ability to select a range(distance from rainfall zone) and frequency(how often to check for rainfall) to their preferences. Based on this, the user's location and configurations are used to check whether they are approaching a rainfall zone. If they happen to be approaching the rainfall zone, they would be informed via verbal warning. Not only that, they can choose to put the application to background mode and they'll still receive a notification with verbal warning. After getting this warning, they can stop by the corner and wear their rain coat.

 

b) Re-Routing Navigation : This feature provides re-directional navigations for users. This basically helps users find directions to their destination while trying it's best to avoid rainfall zones. If rainfall zones can't be avoided, users will be informed of it. They also have the ability to choose fastest/shortest routes and Avoid/Consider ERP.

 

 

2) Insurance Claims Recording.

 

This feature actually helps users by allowing them to follow a set of form guidelines to fill up needed information to file for an insurance claim during the event of an accident. It also allows them mark which part of the vehicle is damaged and take pictures, which will automatically be tagged to the marked part of the vehicle. They can fill in information such as driver information, witness information, photos and accident information. After which, they can send these information to their insurance provider directly at the click of a button, and also send themselves a backup copy.

 

3) Vehicle Breakdown(Roadside Assistance)

 

This feature provides motorists with a list of approved workshops FILTERED by their insurance provider. This intelligent feature will ensure that they only visit approved workshops and not waste money on non-claimables. They can easily tap on the list to give the workshops a call, which also provides tow-truck service for roadside assistance. Not only that, these workshops are beautifully displayed on a map,which they can click on to view more information.
