Ask urself dis few question before buying a bike..

1) What u need the bike for? Transport? OUtlook?

2) Am i able to maintain the bike? FYI, SP all most on road for quite some time already..

3) Pay whatever amt not lesser than 500 for downpayment if possible..

4) Good things dun come cheap.. So get someone more experience to go with u to view the bike from shop..

5) What u need to pay? Downpayment will help u cover ur insurance and stuff.. So after downpayment, everything shop will settle...

6) Fuel comsumption for sport bike is always on the higher side.. RX-Z will have the better Fuel consumption amongs the 3 bike...

But firstly, Focus on ur Prac 8 and TP first.. Mean time, u can save money for ur bikie after u pass ur TP.. Other than that, Pass liao dan decide..

Cheers..

Doesn't matter...

3)19years old in 2007.

Insurance will be very expensive.. plus the $150 charge for new p-platers

4) Likes SP/KRR/RXZ as first bike in respective order.

Try SP's thread..

2) insurance?what company?which party should a person with my situation take.1st 2nd 3rd?y?

Not sure, but most likely Mitsui. Usually the shop will help decide. If downpayment from shop, mati2 must use 3rd party: fire & theft (AKA 2nd party).

3) I am on a budget. But dearly wants SP,have my own reasons.Which shop is the most recommended to get that bike?

SP is commonly available almost everywhere. This means u should take ur time surveying each area. Try Ubi, Bukit Merah lane 1, Serangoon and so on.

4)If i want put a downpayment for an SP,how much is the cheapest?

(i know lesser downpayment,more interest)

Last time friend took out SP, he downpaid $500. So ard there.

5) What would be the ideal sum of downpayment?

Pay as much as you can but still have enough for repairs for the first few months.

6) Is this what i need to pay..... COE + COI + BIKE + RDTAX ?

SP's COE should still be ok, so no need to worry about that. Rdtax is $80 per year. So just worry about machine price, installment fees and maintenance $$$.

hey.

just passed my TP few weeks ago.

did not have the chance to reply.

anyways.. i am still clueless on which bikes are appropriate and suitable for me.

SPs on the roads are left with the latest plate of FU. Meaning it might be hard if i wanted to sell it away when i get my 2A.

But really fond of it.

Is there any loans out there that has a lower interest rate than those offered in bike shops. I am thinking of getting a loan, then cash carry bike from shop then pay the loan-er each month for it.Possible?

wow! this thread is good, should be a sticky.

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

On top of those mentioned above, it also depends on how u want to use it.

If u use it for relatively short distance, then any bike is good enough.

If u use it for longer distance (e.g. East to West daily), then look for one that is comfortable, else u will know what is call numb-in-the-hands.

Happy riding and always remember, RIDE SAFE. :p

It's not called 2nd party.

It's called 3rd Party with Fire & Theft coverage.

Basically, the coverage choices are like this:

1) Third Party

2) Third Party, Fire & Theft

3) First Party

The first two covers you in the event of an accident not caused by you, etc... whilst the second one adds fire disaster and theft compensation.

First party provides the coverage TPFT has, plus, you can also get repair compensation even if a person is at fault in the accident, or even if your bike sustains damage from a fall (for instance...)

I believe the usual penalties do apply, such as an increase in premium for any claims, even for First party coverage.

Inquiries

1) wants NSR 150SP with FS onwards.Market price? Seller's price?

Run a search in the Garage sales section using search icon. My opinion is about 2k, plus minus a couple hundred depending on condition

2) insurance?what company?which party should a person with my situation take.1st 2nd 3rd?y?

Normally for a 2B bike with 2k street value most people will take 3rd party. Cause if you claim for repairs, or the fire for example, what you get back is not much more after you consider your premiums for subsequent years will go up, 3 years if i not wrong.

3) I am on a budget. But dearly wants SP,have my own reasons.Which shop is the most recommended to get that bike?

Smaller shops will tend to sell at above market rate. My opinion is that big shops like Loois and Mah may give better prices. This is from my scouting for super4, about over 20 bikes in more than 5 shops and on garage sales... I would suggest you establish the market rate and compare between as many shops as your time and patience allows. Sometimes the next shop may just offer a better deal

4)If i want put a downpayment for an SP,how much is the cheapest?

(i know lesser downpayment,more interest)

This depends on the shop. Do not be afraid to negotiate. Ask the shops.

5) What would be the ideal sum of downpayment?

The ideal sum is an amount that preferably gives you at least couple hundred dollars in reserve, in case you need to make repairs, go broke etc... Considering your financial situation, you may not be able to keep more in reserve in case of medical emergencies, so check with your family members... A personal accident insurance policy may be helpful to cover your injury risks if you can spare the cash

6) Is this what i need to pay..... COE + COI + BIKE + RDTAX ?

You dun need to pay COE unless you're renewing it. So check the COE expiry date.

Watch out for agreement fees, GST, loan fee etc in the COI contract. Ask a more experienced friend familiar with the bike to go along. Read the contract details clearly. Once signed, chop means chop, cannot blame others. Hope it helps. Happy scouting for your bike :thumb:

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Most impt is to take your time to look for bike. Dun jump into signing just cos the sales person sweet talk. Most of them talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Ask everything you want, there are no stoopid questions, only stoopid pple who don't ask.

Having been a newbie before just like you with no frens riding, i understand the question marks in your mind as well. If you have frens riding, its best you ask them for some advice as well.

But i would say is, make sure your finances are in check. Are your family members going to help you with installments? How are you financing the bike? Its not nice to buy bike and end up no $$ to service and pay installments, have to ask parents for $$. When you go check out bikes, ask someone seasoned along. You'll learn more about choosing, buying, discussing terms and how to cover your backside.

Lastly, enjoy your ride!
