Looking at buying a vara125

Hello all,

 

I just passed my CL2B earlier this month and have been looking around for a nice bike.

 

I've decided on the varadero 125, but I was quoted 12k plus otr for a new one (fuel-injected model). very expensive for a 125cc.

 

Anybody knows where i can get a good secondhand one? how much roughly is the yearly depreciation?

 

How's the bike like for everyday use?

 

are the tyres meant for on or off road use?

 

is it easy to handle especially for a new rider?

 

is it a problem-free or problematic bike?

 

is the bike comfortable?

If you planning to keep bike long term then buy new (the new FI 07 model) else if

planning to upgrade to cl2 then get a preowned bike. A 2003 FW plate in good condition would be around $5000 +-

 

Go visit some of the motordiam - Try Mah (Serangoon), Looi's and call bike shops..who knows they may have one ..

 

How's the bike like for everyday use?

Ride it anywhere - town, highways, kampongs.

Stock tyres (meaning off the showroom) are good for off and on road. See the Vara125 thread for tour pics

 

is it easy to handle especially for a new rider?

It is big and heavy compared to a CG or YBR 125 but you will get use to it after a while

 

is it a problem-free or problematic bike?

If you don't abuse the bike n do periodic maintenance - its problem free

thanks for your reply, stargate. i initially planned to get a second hand one but they're hard to come by. and i don't know where this Mah or Looi shops are so most prob getting straight from boonsiew.

 

one of their agents called me today and i had a good talk with him. seems like their interest rates are quite attractive, at 4.5% per annum.

 

looks like i'm all set on getting a new one liao. who knows, i might join u guys one day for a road trip!

the vara125 is a very good bike. but for a beginner too ex. just imagine you can use the money to buy the xr125L and pimp until very chio. that is just my opinion.
