Personally i feel 5000 - 6000 RPM change gear is the best. If always 7000 RPM change gear open VTEC quite siong, fuel also siong.. :giddy:

Sometimes

We just don't appreciate those people who really care for us

Until they leave us

Until we lose them

Then we regret

Outer beauty doesn't matter; it's the inner one that counts

It's better to tell someone how much you love them

hongwei09, you try this...

at 4th gear, speed of 80km/hr. open throttle then shift up gear. my personal feeling, optimum performance for my S4 is at that gear and speed. from there you can open throttle and feel the difference...

my 2 tiny, winy cents...

i also ridding spec 2 whack or dont whack still 320... try changing ur spark plug service carb and retune carb.. sure got diff in mileage 1... if still dont haf go put volt stabilser or grounding say it will help in petrol usage and better throttle response

if u know the power curve well, u will know which rpm is in the range that u need to change gear.

if u dun need fast pick up, change gear fast. if u wan fast pick up, drag higher then change.

how to save fuel, that u have to find out urself cos every bike is different. n of cos, ur bearings n drive chain plays a part in smooth ride n fuel saving. alot of things come into pic.

It depend individual bike, got boxes, extra weight. etc.

Beside the type of road is also affect the milleage. If you usually riding at town area, lots of traffic light, start-stop, sure milleage will be lower.

If you always riding on expressway, keep consistant speed below VTEC open, can have good milleage.

i change gear always at 4 rpm.. it's giving me very good FC as well ...constantly hit 350-36okm before reserve...=)

like wat the rest of the bros say, if i can chose, i rather chose riding on the eway...gives good mileage but that's not always the case as our roads are full of traffic lights..

my 2 cents ...

6k rpm will still give u high FC. mayb u wanna change ur gear at about 4k - 5k?? or 3k - 4k which is slow in pick up?? but FC will b slightly better. if u r the type that like to play pick up, then FC will b high for sure... cruising with vtec will have high FC but not as high as play pick up...

that's my personal experience...

bro, i think wat he meant is that riding below or at 6rpm at ur last gear will give u a gd FC. aniway, at 6rpm, somewhere ard 90-95km/h, so it's stll below the vtec effective range.......

for better FC,

1)dun lunge when the traffic light hits green

2)ensure smooth acceleration, and smooth deceleration when stopping

3)no hard brakings causing heavy engine braking

4)no over throttling when trying to pick up, instead, smooth play of clutch and throttle to ensure ur fast pickup as turning the throttle fully and throwing clutch will only cause a delayed effect in the surge in acceleration

5)maintain nice and constant speed instead of letting the rpm idle up and down on a straight road .......

6) hit the eway instead of small roads with loads of traffic lights...picking up and slowing down only eats up more petrol

7) proper maintenance of ur bike . i keep a bike log in my pda, recording every tank of petrol i pump and the FC for each tank; every EO change mileage, every oil filter change and any maintenance done( including the mileage of which i changed my tyres. This allow me to know the mileage each particular part of my bike has undergone and lets me track the usage mileage. if there's a sudden drop in the FC of the bike even though my riding style is maintained for the last few weeks, it could mean something's wrong with the caliberation or rather tuning of my carburetor and this would signal that it's time for a servicing. i would also know when it's time for exact oil change, filter change and how long my tyres has served me. in a way, all these become precious referencing which i can use to gauge before i plunge into buying let's say a new set of tyres, taking into account the mileage it has given me.

Point to note, although we want to save on the petrol, it is always a healthy maintenance to ride with the vtec on everyday for some distance........some bros mentioned before this is to let the valve spring "exercise" so that it will "snap" if u suddenly open ur vtec after letting it "rest" for like months.....i do that everyday for a certain distance .....=)

my 2 cents bro
