oh ok. wads grounding? can i get those stuff u mention at petrol station?

No you can't unless there is one that I do not know of. Grounding is basically in simple layman term..zeroing your bike to only one common grounding point for better current flow without voltage drop (load) from your bike electrical connectivity

Hi all, as for my S4 Vtec1, its when upon moving off at low RPM(eg. 1-3), it will delay alot in moving off and u can heard all the air sound until the RPM is higher, then the bike moves smoothly.

Sometime i on my throttle alot more when i got this slow move off also cannot work until speed gain.

I had my crab washed and changed from 37mm to 35mm needles as wat they advice but still cant solve this problem cos they say its because i using KNN air filter n its takes in lots of air.. Then i went MW tune, this time better but still got a little bit when moving off. Then after tuning for abt 1.5mths, i'm starting to feel that the problem is coming back.

Hope to get my problem solve here.

Thkz to all..

What eo are you using and did you add any additive in it. Sound like aclutch slippage problem leh.

heard many times abt clutch slippage probs but wat does it actually mean..?

1. wat happens & indications (technically in d engine & bike performance)

2. causes of clutch slip

3. preventing/rectifying it

4. will mineral oil cause slippage

*i can be sumwat meticulous but hope its a benefit for everybody :cheeky:

Meticulous?..That's good///I for one a very detail person too and I do asked question when I'm in doubt or confused...that's how we know and its learning process.

Here is what clutch slippage is all about but b4 you read on..understanding the basic mechanic of motorcycle cutch helps. Just know that it is wet mesh and are soak in motor oil unlike cars which is dry mesh *self explanatory).

Clutch slippage is when engine revolutions are not fully transferred to the transmission. Power is not fully transmitted to the drive wheels. The engine seems to race but the vehicle does not keep up.

Slippage is most often caused by a worn clutch disc. Or, the clutch pressure plate may be weakened by heat, age, or abuse..and in such cases for rectification, damaged clutches must be replaced.

Slippage can cause almost instant damage to the clutch. Heat produced by the slippage quickly damages friction material, contact surfaces, and springs.

As the clutch are soak in eo, any oil additive that help enhance engine performance not warrant with a label saying that its can be use with motorcycle, it best be avoided..eg. Brand "Slick blahhh..blahhh..MT-0xxx and some others.

When you do have slip clutch problem, the best solution is to do an engine oil change including oil filter replacement after an engine flush treatment...all this can be DIY as access to needed tool and product of the trade is easily available these days.

Mineral oil is still one of the best oil till date for day to day trouble free commuting vechicle usage. Just that oil change mileage bench mark must be met. Again, this is subjective because it depend on riding habit and use of your bike.

here is a bit of info that is of the subject about clutch above and good to know...

Knowing about Motor oil category is helpful for the type and year make of the machine on wheels you buy these days.

On the label of engine oil (usually never find on motorcycle oil 1 litre packing), if you see category "SM"..it is For all automotive engines currently in use. Introduced November 30, 2004, SM oils are designed to provide improved oxidation resistance, improved deposit protection, better wear protection, and

better low-temperature performance over the life of the oil. Some SM oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification and/or qualify as Energy Conserving. "SM" is current.

"SL" was just superceeded by "SM". Still good and meet almost of specifcation..for for 2004 and older automotive engines.

"SJ"..sometime you find this on 1 litre motorcycle packaging..it means for 2001 and older.

The list goes on but I skip the details.

There are always debate about differences for car and motorcycle oil. I'll however not go into this as it can get lengthly and lots of answer for me that I do not have the time to answer to ...in short.....both eo are the same just that some manufacturer claims about their product having no friction modifiers, uses different dispersant/detergent technology for better high-temperature performance and engine cleanliness...etc////etc..etc....but one thing they never consider..and that's..clutch design and material too has somewhat improve to meet requirements. I take myself as a living example..I have been running on car eo all this while and I'm running an unfamilar brand to most selling at NTUC..a five litre bottle for $39.00 on special sometime..normally at $69.00..can say the brand here but its easy to figure. Throw in some right and good 3rd party additive and you be doing good for your mechanical wife :)..never had one time they ever give me a slip on my clutch at red zone testing on my PB1...real hot with NOS.

Ok..lah...talk so much!...Amen!

Plse do not pm me on the just said subject above or where I gotten them from...go figure and do some research of updated stuff on this.

Sorry to hear things are getting worst for your ride. Since you never got into the detail of how they check your bike and came to their each their own conclusion..have just to take it with a pinch of salt situation...but really.."whack..whack..become loose" is a lot of BS to me..IMHO. I whack my bike and its almost coming 11 yrs old now also nothing ever come loose. At any rate..if the clutch in it whatever is loose..its common sense that its not proper as its not meant to be. But now that its getting worst, yes I do believe that something definitely its not right.:(

As for recommending good mechanics..there are plenty out there. As dingjc has recommended Bikeworks..guess you may want to try them out but have to say I never been there myself. At any rate, you got nothing to loose just asking for their advise. If you still need more mechanic opinion and staying around AMK, Bishan or Serangoon North area..just pm me..can bring you to oen or two more for their advise.

"IMHO" : just an abbreviated short form for "In My Humble Opinion"...commonly use in posting in forums etc..just like "LOL"...Laughing Out Loud. There is a long list of such usage and there is a data collection of it....can't remember where though. No problem..tomorrow morning should be fine. I will call you later in the evening to confirm :)

Heh Kmax!...LOL!....I like your version of definition for IMHO better leh! :)

"Banging sound"?...wah_lau...I think must be something that's not right la. As for mechanics that I know or just as about any others..most of them are somewhat the knowledgeable and know how a bike works like..its all about understanding the mechanic of how a bike works. There are always some guess work in their work too but they mostly get things sorted. What we are worry about are those careless and anyhow han_tham ones and lazy in proper procedures in their work atitude. Gone are the days where agent use to haev their in-house mechanics trained on the bike they bring it.

Anyway..your GSXk5 is something I think most mototiam can handle lah but having the right mechanic is another thing. The one I can bring you to likely can do but its no harm asking if they can handle it should it be a problem of your clutch. Once strip open..mechanism and how they function are more or less similar..just that they don't stock the parts and have to do runner to get them. S4 most can do because its a popular bike and all mototiam knows what it is...but doing a good job is another thing.

May be you wanna tight up with Jastrailer and can go together tomorrow morning before 10 am. We just do some soul searching with what the mechanic has to say...yah?

ah pek, can help me with some info?

im thinking of servicing front forks can i know what are the parts that i need to buy? (buy from FJT is best ryte?)

and hw much fork oil is recommended to put in? and what fork oil do u recommend to use and where to get it?

since im sure ur own fork u must service urself ryte? any tips on actually doing it or things i have to look out for?

also, forks what is the recommended gap? i heard if higher is more stable for straights and if lower forks is better for corners? inverse relationship is it true?

thanks
