would the 2-way alarm be the most "advance" notifying system for alarms? since cookie_monster mentioned that the range is limited. any more advance stuff like say paging system? or... sms even?

2 way radio frequency "notifying system" is definitely NOT THE BEST notifying system....one of the weak point being the blind spots as mention by one of the bikers. But by far... I believe it is the BEST in terms of "money vs perfomance" department as the short commings of a two way alarm can be easily overcome by parking at a "better" location or adjusting the "position" of your transmitter during installation if your alarm system comes wif one :cheeky:

Dun forget... even if the alarm system promise you 2km of working range (btw I do have one system that promise that) what can you do when your pager goes off when you are 1.5km away from your bike?

Are you gonna run back to check or are you gonna call police.... it might be someone tampering wif your bike (but already ran away when the siren went off)... but it maybe just a naughty cat... it could also be just a clumsy biker that happens to knock the mirror when he gets off his bike... you will most probably end up pretty paranoid... and will not leave the "effective checking range" of where you park you bike (which is usually much smaller that the 2 way alarm effective range) :cheeky:

Anyway, installing an alarm system (no matter how good it is) should be just an additional line of defense.... it should NEVER be an excuse for you to park in "dark alley" or any other "theft prone" places. Dun leave everything to your alarm system... you must be responsible for the safety of your bike to a certain extend as well...

Well... there are better "notifying system" definitely... I know of one that uses a GSM system to inform the owner when the vehicle is being tampered. That system is around SGD800plus excluding installation (it needs quite a bit of space) and it requires a SIM Card (monthly subscription... stuff like that) and the power consumption is pretty high.... not that worth it leh... :cheeky:

For S4 that are looking for alarm.... you might want to try the alarm systems that I am running a MO (for a long time liao) located HERE. Beware... it is quite a long thread!!!

The price ranges from SGD67 for a simple learning alarm to SGD134 for a 2-Way LCD Remote Alarm (with 1 spare non-LCD remote).

Quite a few S4s had installed it and the reviews are pretty good so far :cheeky:

These are parts of some user's reviews...

think this is the oni alarm system with an extra reception unit. even the mech was surprised! ...> .. anyway a really great value added product with nice features in case someone decides to ride away ur bike after u remote started it. out of 5stars i'll give 4, for the faulty remote display.

hi guys..today jus install with MR ken...n had try at 18 floor..the alarm wrks...

BTW e alarm was brilliant.... can auto stop engine somemore...

n sensitivity was superb... slight kick at frt wheel or slightly knock e exhaust will trigger e alarm.... wat else can we ask for.....

upz for e MO conmittee

hi guys.. i've juz installed the type 3.

its GOOD!!! haha

realli makes u feel ur bike is next to u cos of the 2way remote system.

its worth installing it....

the remote is actualli loud enuff to wake me up from my slp.. haha

ups for type 3!!!!

Tested in the lift. Travelling down from 6th floor to first level. Door still close but already at level one (Level 1 Light bulb lighted). Still works ok, able to activate it.

juz meddle ard wif my type3 alarm.

I stay 14th floor. I tried activating the alarm at every corner of my house (toilet, storeroom etc).

It works!

yesterday raining, got 1 loud thunder, it sounded! guess I muz set the sensitivity lower.

Me and Mil collection the type 2 alarm from Ken on Friday nite and juz have it installed on Sunday... it works great!!! Mil is reali good at this kind of electrical things... hahahaha.... i live at 14th floor, bike parked in sheltered carpark about 30m away from my block, no problem in activating and alerting me from my room. Also tested at my gf's house juz now, she lived at 21st floor, no problem for receiving signal if at corrider, or near to door. But i think range wise it's good enuf for me, cos i k hear the buzzer from 21st floor!!!! feel very safe now... haha...

Hi fellow bros,

I would like to know some information from all bros who have installed alarm on their bike (esp Spec III).

1. Where do you install the main unit in your bike?

Myself: I install it very near the tail light, where the toolkit used to be secured (for spec3).

2. How sensitive is your alarm?

Myself: I need to hit my seat REALLY hard, then the alarm will activate. Did not try kicking other parts of my bike cuz brand new lah... heart pain.... But I did try to push the whole bike around a short distance and the alarm also did not sound... :sian:

Would appreciate fellow bros feedback and answers to the above question, so that I can decide on the next course of action. (i.e. change the alarm etc. )

Please advice. Thank you.
