Well...I take it as an investment...putting up a $400 alarm on a 13k machine is not that much really. If any of the expensive parts, like suspension, gone missing, then will cost u more. Juz my 2 cents.

i am having a cheetah alarm, also same...need to connect to the ignition, but i didnt dare risk anything with the ignition, cause once it short circuit or watsoever ur ignition is at risk

this is wat i do: i took the wire that is suppose to connect to the ignition, i tap it to the rear number plate light. which has a voltage of about 9V or 12V which should be the same as the ignition....and guess wat....it works.....serve the same purpose that when someone try to start your bike, ur alarm will go off.

i have been using this cheetah alarm with this way of connection for coming to 2 years and till now still working fine

hope this helps

I too have Scorpio installed. Emailed to them and they reply that move the alarm somewhere central on the bike. Did that and sensitivity seems to improve a lot. Anyway Scorpio Alarm very easy to install one. No need to splice wires, they use wire taps to connect to the signal lights and one wire to battery (positive). Very small and Very loud.

I already ordered this, so I need to know if it drains a lot of battery power, especially if people purposely disturb your bike. Do I need to get an additional small battery for it?

Edit: Holy crap Ivika you could have answered earlier, thanks for answering my question without knowing haha.

Are the wiring visible?

If the thief knows you got alarm, he can cut off the wire and disarm the alarm right?

So I guess you will need to place the alarm at a hard to reach place, including the wires. Anyway If the alarm gets disarmed by the thief, can only suspect the person that does the alarm for you, most prob the shop, or people that you show the alarm to. Coz they know where the alarm is placed.

All of this needs to take in consideration before putting in the alarm. Alarm is to deter intruder by making such a noise the thief will be startled and ran off before able to do anything to the bike.

Anyway Scorpio got add-on components, like backup battery (If happens the thief cuts off the main power cable) and Perimeter Sensor (Will beep if someone gets close to it and will activate the alarm if person too near). Can consider this.

I edited my post Ivika, because I saw you reply right after me haha.

Anyway OT, is the voltmeter actually very useful? If yes I might get one from someone close to me (and you know him, Spec3FBA's friend, leave it at that).

The only supplier in Singapore that carries Scorpio Alarm is Motoworld. Would cost about S$400 (The last time I check). You can always check the Mass Ordering page and contact the guy doin it if still got available Alarms. I got mine from his MO so lower price.

As for the alarm, so far OK. Don't expect to get 1/2 mile range as the website says. You Won't. Other than that, it is loud, and can purchase with additional accessories, not to mention easy to fix.

Hope that helps

Via the MO way on this forum, the Scorpio is 350 with installation at MotoWorld, please look for deterspine if you want it.

However technically useful alarms that are 2-way are best found from FatBiker I suppose. It all depends on the type of alarm you want, your situation and financial ability, and also where you park your bike usually, etc. Small things like that all count towards getting an alarm.

My best advice to you would be to think carefully before you choose which alarm to buy.

Yes I do agree with Panther. Do your own research on Scorpio and the ones Fatbiker is selling, then finally decide how much protection you want for your bike.

If you need more info on scorpio, pls visit mo and click on the scorpio link (closed). Let me know if you want it.

Hello if you are interested in the scorpio alarm, I am selling at S$350 inclusive installation. Absolutely no cutting of wires/soldering or mods to your stock wiring.

Description of the product as follows:

The all-new SR-i500 is the first two-way FM security system designed specifically for the motorcycle industry. By utilizing High Frequency RF technology, it is capable of sending and receiving data from up to ½ mile away from the motorcycle.

The miniature handheld transceiver incorporates an interactive LCD display that instantly confirms all commands and alarm triggers with easy to understand icons and text.

Security features include:

• Dual axis accelerometer – detects impact and inclination

• Waterproof design meets OEM specifications

• Selectable audible/vibrating alerts

• Integrated 125 dB programmable multi-tone siren

• Violation display with time stamp

• Range Confirmation Signal (RCS)

• Available factory plug-in connector kits

2 Way FM Technology:

A remote & Pager ALL-IN-ONE!

By utilizing High Frequency FM technology, the SR-i500 transceiver is capable of sending and receiving commands from up to ½ Mile away from the motorcycle. It incorporates a selectable audible vibrating alert and a back lit LCD screen that displays alarm triggers and confirms system modes with easy to understand icons and text messages. This unique FM technology provides exceptional range and excellent penetration, even in those difficult areas such as shopping malls and underground parking garages.

Superior Sensing Mechanism:

The Analog Devices ADXL202 offers unmatched reliability

For its sensing mechanism, the SR-i500 utilizes a built in Analog Devices ADXL202 accelerometer. Derived from the air bag industry, this dual-axis digital sensing microprocessor measures both dynamic acceleration (e.g., vibration) and static acceleration (e.g., gravity) with a high degree of accuracy and consistency. It integrates microscopic silicon parts and sophisticated signal conditioning to produce a complete two-axis accelerometer on a single IC. This onboard sensor allows the control module to be placed in any position or mounting angle and requires no adjustments.

Compact, Durable, and Waterproof:

It’s built to withstand the Punishment of a Motorcycle.

All the SR-i500 features are packed into one compact unit about the size of a small cell phone (3 ½ x 2 ½

x ¾ ). The miniature control model also offers a built-in 125dB multi-tone siren with advanced programming features such as selectable siren tones as well as trigger duration. To insure durability, the SR-i500 is manufactured to meet OEM specs and utilizes waterproof connectors and a triple layer circuit board design that contains no mechanical or moving parts. A patented polyurethane encapsulating process ensures that the module is hermetically sealed and is guaranteed to withstand severe vibrations, extreme heat, and high water pressure. Scorpio’s quality control standards even require a depth submersion test of 10’.

"Plug & Play" Installation:

Easy installation means you get protected and get going!

The single compact module and the three wire do-it-yourself installation kit makes the SR-i500’s installation a snap on any motorcycle. The easy to follow step-by-step installation instructions describe the exact location and color code for each wire. No testing tools are required! With the supplied plug-in T-Tap connectors the installation of the SR-i500 does not require any cutting or soldering. Also available are factory style connector kits that simply plug into the motorcycles wiring harness creating a non-destructive installation. OEM installation kits are available for late model Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley Davidson, American Iron Horse, Big Dog and Indian motorcycles.

Other Standard Features Include :

• Two-Way FM Transceiver

• Alphanumeric LCD display with backlight

• Ultra low power drain Main Control Module

• Built-in Analog Devices ADXL202 accelerometer

• Ignition protection
