New insurance while claim still pending

Hi. I would like to know about a new insurance. Currently there is a claim of $500 against my ntuc insurance. My renewal is coming in less than a month and my new insurance in ntuc does not have ncd. They have yet to settle the amount as they said its under nego with the 3rd party. That means the claim is still ongoing

 

I don't want to lose my 20%ncd for just $500. Is it possible if I change my insurance company to axa or something else without affecting my ncd.

 

I still rmb that my friend was able to change his car insurance company without affecting his ncd while the claim is still ongoing. Then his 2nd yr when the claim is already done his ncd was affected.

 

Any lights on this matter will be helpful. Thank u

There is no law against changing insurer even if there is an on-going claim against your current insurer. Some insurers may ask if you have any outstanding claims so it up to you on how to answer such question.

 

Once a succesful claim has been made against you, the whole insurance world will know about it.

 

On the hindsight, if the claim was only for $500, the damage cant be major. You dont want to lose your NCB, then you should have opted for private settlement in the frist place.

Thanks for the reply. No the claim was due to the Wilson's parking barrier broke when it hit my bike. They send me letter that they claiming from my insurance and I didn't had a choice to settle it myself.

 

So basically I can find a way round to tell them tt there is no claim and jump to another insurance company ? I just need my ncd and after the claim is settle I will pay back.

you should just contact wilson parking and pay for the damage instead, why let them claim your insurance? From my understanding NCD will reset to 0% if there is a claim on your insurance.

I waited too long before moving off then it closed while in between. Hit my tailboard. I couldn't contact the Wilson's cos they already send a letter to my insurance company.

sue wilson parking for damaging your bike...and then settle when they call you..

That stupid barrier costs $500? You should have counter claimed them for hitting your bike.

 

There a pile of this barrier at the Chinatown hawker centre, they probably need to replace it frequently.

 

This is just a guess, for a claim of $500, you may not lose all your NCB.

I called ntuc and they said if I offset the $500 then I will regain my ncd. But that's like they not even doing any enquiry to subsidies. Probably jumping to axa insurance for my class 2 bike

If the barrier hit my bike, I would claim from them.
