Hi brothers. I'm new here. I'm thinking of getting a cagiva planet cos i think the design is so cool. But i dont see a lot of them around. Why isnt it so popular? Is there something u all know that i dont? Does it have a lot of problems? And practical wise.. in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance, is it worth it? Please help me. Thanks a lot!

a relative of mine owned a planet as his first bike straight after getting 2b.

2nd hand, cost him $10k.

servicing, each piston ring cost $200 (my ta150 cost $20).

he changed it to a first hand tzm within a year.

ordinary singaporeans would not bother buying a 2b bike for the cost of a machine price super4. not unless its a kid wif a loaded dad who sponsors everything. whether the bike good anot or worth the price anot, i cannot comment; but this is the reason u dun see many of this around.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

theres a thread solely on the planet in the naked bikes section of this forum, by owners of the bike. u may wanna check that out.

btw i noticed one owner mention the clutch cable for the planet cost $90. normal thai-jap 2b bikes cost between $12 to $18. really, in light of all these costs, its really no wonder u dun see many planets around.

but i must emphasize that i cannot comment on whether the money is worth it anot. i onli saying a lot of ppl including myself get turned off by the price; plus some who realli want it oso LL cant afford. u might wanna go in the thread i mentioned and ask the owners themselves.

My first motorcycle was a Cagiva Planet and it was the worst bike I've had all my life. It looked good but everything else was TERRIBLE!

Probably consumed alot of gas as well! !

I got it in year 2000 for about S$6,800. I had it for only 6 months and sold it for only S$4200.

Anyways,, problems I encountered include but were not limited to:

1) Defective battery

2) Side mirrors don't stay in place whenever I reach over 70kmh

3) Spark plugs always get clogged - something to do with 2T mixture

4) Side stand fell off probably from vibration

5) Bike is just too slow, max speed about 90kmh downhill, but bike shakes too much at that speed
