To all the bikers, i would suggest buy all spare-parts yourself and get the servicing done in front of your eyes for peace of mind. You might need to sacrifice a weekend or a week day but its worth it. This way you know what is going on and along the way you will learn more about the bike and its state. I always do that and am confident of the bike not giving way to me on a ride. Happy riding. Stay safe. Cheers!!!

Wise saying.

If Moto Tiam got rating , I wouldn't be doing most part of the servicing MYSELF, right?

Except let them change tires which I would only bring the rims to them! hahahaha

Its really very hard to find a good motortiam. I recently visited a very famous motortiam in Ubi whom every biker in sg know or heard of them before. Famous for being cheap and good. But it was a major disappointment for me.

Hi all

May i ask, if i go to workshop and let them fix my bike, like lets say change battery, do they provide receipt?

Also, i have just bought a 2nd hand bike. I would like to bring to workshop to check the condition and fix any parts faulty. Can anyone recommend me a workshop in the north? Cause i stay in sembawang area.

Thanks all

Posts like this are utterly useless. Without naming the shop or explaining your situation, what's the point? And if riders were to wrongly guess the shop, it would indeed be a disservice to the honest shops that were cast in the wrong light.

Here's my experience with Equator Brotherhood.

Shop name: Equator Brotherhood @ Synergy, Kaki Bukit.

Overall: Satisfactory.

Mechanic: friendly, answers all my questions patiently and gave me a few tips on bike maintenance.

Description: Went for oil change. Used Liquimoly fully synthetic.

Good: Price is very good for this oil. Between $2-$2.30 per 100ml, depending on the time of day. Off peak is of course cheaper. If your bike uses 3.1L, they charge for only 3.1L, and not 4L. Friendly mechanic answered all my questions. No waiting time. Immediately started work on my bike. Certainly convenient to not have to wait, but I'm not sure if this is really a good thing. Hmmm...

Bad: Pretty minor stuff: they asked me to add a engine flush, which I did, but in retrospect, this was not needed for a 1 year old bike and I think they should have advised me accordingly. Still, it was only $15, so not a big deal. They also asked if I wanted to change spark plugs (x4), when I know my spark plugs could probably last another 10,000km. Note that they didn't push hard, just merely suggested and nudged me a little by removing one of the spark plugs and showing me that the white part was turning slightly brown. It was just residue that could be rubbed off, so probably had no impact on the spark plug's performance despite the innuendo.

But if I were to trust a shop, I need to know they would not suggest unneccessary changes, so I would probably not go back to them for advise, unless I specifically wanted this particular engine oil, and if I knew specificaly what I wanted to change.

Hi all,

I received this quotation from a workshop for repairs of a Phantom TA 200 bike. The quotation is for OEM parts. Any idea if this quote for parts is reasonable?

Greatly appreciate any advice.

IMO it's been marked up 25-30%, rode Phantom for 3 years I don' remember paying so much for these parts.

hi guys, any reviews on universal motors @ bukit merah

thinking of buying 1st hand bikes from them

appreciate the feedback

For pricing, they are reasonable!

I know they don't charge early settlement fee, admin fee or what ever fee.

Cash payment or installment price the same unlike some shop charge you $200 for cash payment.

By the way what bike you looking to buy from them?

2B bikes, thinking of pcx150, been riding litre bike for 2+ years, speed doesn't interest me anymore

they quote me a reasonable price, now unsure if i want to buy now or see any interesting bikes in 2017

2B bikes I would like go convenience, since most has neither speed nor pick-up that I want, when comparing to S4.

But honestly I would rather you choose a 2A bike, at least the pick-up still here, but have to sacrifice fuel economy.

Depending on your pocket, if your main intention is to cut down running cost, I would suggest you to go for normal bike eg. T150 sniper or motorcycle with gear. Reason is scooter is belt driven and you will need to replace the belt at around 15k km regardless of the condition of the belt.

For bike with chain driven, you can see the condition and take preventive maintenance and it will be cheaper to maintenance in my opinion.

I have to agree that Scooter are really relax to drive! :)

Buy something that you like and you won't regret.
