For $550 to do those jobs you mentioned you must be a fool to say that this shop provide reasonable /honest servicing.

If you talk to Hung at Guan Hoe he'll probably do it for less...much less and they are agent for SUZUKI somemore!

Your mechanic only open the top part of the engine cylinder head and no further and as for the rest of the jobs, the parts serviced are on the surface and easily dissmantled and assembled back.

So what type of skills justified this mechanic to charge such price...becos he only uses BASIC motorcycle maintanence skills which a low down Ah Beng type mechanic also can do!

Think!

Well....if you like throwing money ( which for a biker is highly unlikely).... I can say no more....hehehehehe

Well.....as i've said, i'm keeping my options open..... I'm a regular at Guan hoe but i guess you won't know it either...... o_O

Just wanted to give them a try, since there have been quite a few gd reviews of them.....if they really did screw me up den too bad cos they will NEVER get my business or my other friends' for that matter.......

Some pple learn thru experience, some learn thru friends...... At least i'm learning....how abt you?

Level of service: 3 (sales man can really talk with u bout anything but all kok.)

Level of value for money: 1 (tot i got a very good deal, but frens told me i could get a same thing for less then $3.6)

How happy are you overall? 0(Very unhappy customer)

What makes this shop commendable?

The exp i got was really bad. the day i went to get the bike, my paint job was not done properly(BAD POLISHING),my meter light was not working, second day i found that my coolent temp was not norm(ride for 10 min rise til H), third day morning cannot start bike, had to take cab to work(but they tow for free, told me the bike no batt) one week after all tis bike cannot start in the morning even when choke is pulled. *FED UP* Got leave from work, ask them to tow my bike. in the end went down to motor shop n stuck there for 5hrs(they service the lights, check coolent n change batteries). now the fork leaks oil, ask them to service but they told me i had to pay $90 for both sides cos pass warrenty period *1 mth*(THEY STILL GOT THE CHEEK TO TELL ME DISCOUNTED PRICE!!!) + my coolent still not ok yet. Definately not recommended to bikers.

Geez... I dont wish to dig in, but just to ask,

Price you are paying = 171.20 * 36 + 800 = 6932.2

Calculated price That I derived = (4200 - 800) * 1.24 + 800 = 5016

Difference is 1916.20

That's close to 2K! what are the extras u had been paying man?

What makes this shop commendable?

y i felt this bike shop so jialat? coz they never make the statement clear b4 u buy ur bike!

last few months i was having some financial problem, so i delay my bike installment(no choice!), then later i found is almost overdue for 3months, then faster go make installment. the clerk there like i have own him (she does sounds like "him") multi million dollar, then force me to pay a 70bucks "searching fee". wat a f***!!

i told my self, i will never never never pay this 70bucks. not becoz i can't affort, is principle prob!!

Dear mutant_sheep_X9,

As a neutral party I must said that you are in the wrong as well. Having to own the installment for 3 months, u should at least call them up to inform them. Every bike shop have their own policy & they also have to pay the bank loan as well. You are consider lucky that your bike is not being possess. It is a normal practise for the bike shop to charge outstanding interests unless you know the admin clerk or the boss. I hope that you are also required to do your part as a customer.

I bought my bike at Dili trading & I know the system. Every shop have to make some business & every shop does the same like selling, repairing & etc. What makes me go back to the same shop is b/c of good services & no monkey business when buying bike. As for the attitude, it also depend how we approach them. Some ppl have problems with them, some ppl dun.

For secondhand bike, you can't expect them to test out everybike on the floor to make sure the bike is alright. If they really strip the bike, change all the necessary parts & wash the bike, the price will be different too. For most the cases when you sell a bike to shop, will you still make sure you change the oil before you send in, tell the bike shop mechanic that this bike has this issue or need to replace parts? Most of the time, they will also remove the aftermarket parts to sell or give to friends instead of giving to the shop. I guess this is a trade-off when you are buying a secondhand bike from a shop. If you get the bike from a private owner or friend, the chances of breaking down is less. We have to accept this mentailty as there is no free lunch in this world. What we want from the shop is their good services & attention, of problems being address.

Just my $0.31 cents

Alex

What makes this shop commendable?

When i first bought this in may, they offered me at .5k w/o insurance. With insurance is about k cos i need to pay age loading....

I chose to get it in may bcos in june, there will be 30% increase in insurance by NTUC. But due to shipment delay, the bike arrived early june which happens to be hit by the insurance hike......

Insurance prices in May - about .9k

june - Shot to .7k ( .1k after 20% NCD)

As the boss can't deliver as promise, therefore he offered to absorb the extra cost incurred....... What a happy person i was.....

Thats the way to do business...... In future if i would to buy any bike, i would buy from them.....

So end up total bike price = ,250

IU = -0

First Party Insurance = -.1k

Road Tax (1/2yr) = -0

= ,840 (Bike price)

They also charge me interest rates of 4%pa flat.

I've already ask ard most of the motor shops ard.... Nobody can give me this price...... The lowest they can give is ,500 w/o insurance but at 5%pa

so u bought ur R1 1st hand tat time,isit?:cheeky:

remembered read fm a UK bike magazine, they did a bike shops survey, they sent in a Yamaha SECA II (a bike that is rather easy to repair), with expert purposely damaged some parts, sent it in without telling the bike shop what was wrong with the bike, just let them service and check, after taking the bike back, the experts then check if the "damaged" parts was replaced, rightly tuned and corrected.

from their surveyed, none of the shops (with name mentioned) fully checked the bike, none of the bike shop scored a 10/10, highest is 8/10, lowest 3/10, meaning only rectified 30% of the problem, the test was rather strict, as they did many things like delaying the brake light, adjust the valve setting to wrong setting, tyres pressures, battery water, battery power, wrong clutch cable setting, brake fluid pressure, for 2 brakes calipers, they put 1 worn and 1 new and alot more, very interesting test.

Guess if this test is to conduct in singapore, highest score will go to the agent - as they are very systematic (go by checklist, as I owned a Yamaha and a BMW, I saw what they did and are very happy with their service, but of course, wallet lighten alot, especially BMW, and ever accompanied friend to BOON SIEW, same was done to his bike - a Super4 / parallel import with square headlight, perfect, all nonsense created by his ex mech was resolved by BS). remember, sent to agent, price may be 30% higher, but at most twice a year but if you go to motortiam, price may be "slightly lower", but you will have to go back everyweekend or sometime in the middle of the night, or got so fedup and sell ur bike, lost more.

My advise is, let the motodiam do the small simple job like changing light bulb, tyres (applicable to certain bike, for those gulf swingarm bike - RVF, VFR and BMW, please go back to agent, they have the correct machine to align ur tyres), chain, spokets and all minor comestic work, but when come to engine, carb, injection tuning/setting, exhaust tunning/setting (EXUP -for some yamaha bikes, this system is super sensitive, rode an EXUP before, none ah beng or ah seng can tune it correctly except agent) please go back to Agent (if your brand has one, if not, don't buy that brand).

PS : LASTLY, DON'T EVER GO TO THE BIKE SHOP THAT CAN'T QUOTE BEFORE REPAIR (QUOTATION MEANING GIVING YOU A WRITTEN BLACK AND WHITE, NOT JUST VERBAL), DON'T ISSUE INVOICE AND DON'T HV NETS OR CREDIT CARD MACHINE, THERE'S NO PROOF THAT THEY HAVE SERVICE UR BIKE BEFORE, JUST LIKE IN BUSINESS, AS A PURCHASER/BUYER, DO U THINK U CAN BUY ANYTHING W/O QUOTATION? W/O RECEIPT, W/O PURCHASER ORDER, W/O INVOCIE - CAN U PAY?)

Heard his workmanship is superb but is very expensive...any TZRR riders been there?

Dont go there, I bought my SDR, ex owner recommend me to go Ah Hai, I checked the bike and found everything was perfectly wrong, worst - Carb was perfectly model and make, jet needle / idling / sound all not right, think he don't even know what carb this bike use, and no air filter (best of the best), as it was a re-con bike, aftraid Hong Leong might reject, go to another shop tot i can trust, again, fix the wrong but same carb as Ah Hai did, now, just bought a new carb myself, beg them to accept and now in HL. I trust them since 1995, they are the only 1 can tune this FZR400RR EXUP.

Sad, y all these mech just do what they think and not according to manual.

I just bought my BlackBird from Motorsales at UBi reccomended by a third party, the only reason I used them is because they gave me a very good price for my old bike GPZ750 18yrs 2k. I dealt with the father I think his name was HArry.

bike was a FV plate but model was a 2001 FI the first one with FI, 13.5k bargain to 13k. after trade in 11k.

First , financing was only up to 10k, so had to top up 1kand done by another shop at sin min they also require a gurantor (wrong spelling) 5% for 5 years .

Second the he told me had 3 months warrenty, and will cover the road tax,

The maintenace was f~up one of the worse I have ever experiance, I asked if the bike was serviced " Bahru serviced one", spark plugs for BB 1100cc they used normal plugs, after another BB rider warn me about the coolent as the bike tends to overheat I found I could pour 1 liter of coolent in the well, it was almost empty.

Bike was not even cleaned when I took over.

So called 3 months warrenty I had to go to Raymond (their ex mech) down the road to redo the tuning and fix my footrest for my pillian (wife) who requires a platform, their mech could'nt do it. now I am thinking of changing engine oil as there is some knocking noises when idling.

On top of that they asked me to pay for the road tax for my old bike which they are going to export, The road tax for my new bike was only valid for 1 more month ??? so again had to pay, went back twice to talk to them " no we don't pay road tax for 2nd hand bike" 1st hand and 2nd got difference mei. WTF "thats what they mean when they say I will cover the Roadtax (1 month)

I will NEVER use them again for anything, regret not going through Looi. but they only affered me 1k or less for my old bike.

Service -1/10 owner never around (horse racing) The Son, Ci Bei Tau

Mec boh chup,

value 3/10 at first look like good bargain but later U end up paying more.

by the way Raymond is still one of the best big bike mechs around, his shop only service and repair no sales reasonably priced, got De Xing sign but I think they pay him to advertise for them.

Hmm.. never test ride the bike b4 paying. He says when you pay liao, then can test and change whatever things tat spoilt. Say give 3 mths warranty. Will change rear tire, change the tong pipe, fix givi e33 for $100 for me.. Tat dyed hair guy's service not bad le... so i trusted him. and the pricing quite ok for me..and say he'll do some touch-up for me.

One day b4 taking my bike, i called them, to say i'm coming down tml aft 4pm.

When i reached, MY BIKE WASN"T even touched at all. And, tat guy won't ask his mech to do up my bike until he see me paying the downpayment.. bloody... nvm.. i tot, compromise each other.

After paying up, the mech lan lan do other ppl's BIG bikes like r1,gsx... bochap me.. i exercise my patience, sit there for 1hr b4 he start to touch my bike.. when he push my bike from outside, he kicked the front rims as though it was crooked.. when i rush outside to see my bike, he stopped.

Hmm.. then i suspect my bike got something wrong.. ask the mech why kick my rims, is it my bike buang b4.. knn he replied: "New bikes must kick kick for good luck.." ccb... think i born ytd issit..

i think nvm, got 3 mth warranty.. i must complain every single little thing i feel wrong abt the bike to get my monetory value back.. but surfing thru the forum, a lot of ppl say their warranty is as good as useless..

What service/product did you purchase?

Valve Clearance

wash/tune carb

install brake hose

Change air/oil filters

Change Engine oil/Coolant

Change rear wheel bearings

Level of service: 8/10(Was attended to by Ah Kiong, kept the parts that he changed to show me as well as explain to me what was worn/damaged)

Level of knowledge: 5/10(i'm giving a neutral score as i'm not very technically

knowledgeable about my bike, so i cannot comment on their level of knowledge)

Level of value for money: 7/10(overall I'm still alright with the pricing although i believe it could be cheaper.)

How happy are you overall? 6.5/10

What makes this shop commendable?

Left the bike there for a few days for all the abovementioned things to be completed. Was not there so did not see how the process was being conducted so will not comment on it. As for the end result i feel that there was not much of a difference compared to that when i went for servicing at Guan Hoe.

What i feel was commendable was that i was surprised to recieve a call from them at 8pm to tell me my bike is ready can can be collected... i went down..took 2 hours to reach there and they were still open. I believe not many bike shops will continue to service our bikes until so late. Even when i reached there there was still another mech servicing an St11. Their level of commitment is very commendable.:thumb:

Was charged $550 all in all including a change in the cam gasket and washers.

Will i patronise them again? I feel that other than still being open at such a late hour, they did not leave any lasting impression on me.... If the pricing was more competitive, i would not mind bringing my bike there for further servicing. Until then, i'll be keeping my options open.

I understand many people here praise them for their service, knowledge and etc...

After seeing what they have done to your bike. Think they will be very busy, will patronise them later when the heat is gone.

May I KP to ask, how old is ur bike, what bike are you riding, KM travelled. As I would like to know how long should I do valve clearance and carb wash.

And how's ur performance of your bike after VV clearance and carb wash, what plug do they use or how much do they charge u for plugs?

Many thanks.

makes empty promises, dilly dally, push the blame to one another.. like SAF sia!

can never get the boss to pick up your call.. staffs just do "taichi" around..

can tell me they never earn money some more.. wtf!

Weeelllll, i'm riding a gsxR400RR...how old issit? umm its abt 10 yrs old.....

Been riding it for about 1yr n 8 mths.....decided to bring it for valve clearance cos i don't know if the previous owner has done that before.

But after going there and giving them a try, i've concluded that i could have gotten the same things done for a fraction of that price at Guan Hoe.

So unless you really dun trust your present mech, i wouldn't suggest you going down there.

As for the other pple's comments on them, i have no comments on that..... To each his own.......what i believe in is " You must kan piah(smash yourself into the wall) 1st in order to know how painful it is"

Thanks for your reply. Actually I just want to find out if the mech advise you to do valve clearance or you volunteer for it, from yr reply, it seem like u requested for VV clearance. Hate mech to advise riders to overhaul their engine, wash carb or valve clearance when riders complained bike "lost" power.

GHC is the service agent for Suzuki, am I rite? Then go to them, will never go wrong. For me, I only stick to agent, that is, PML an HL and tt's why I don't buy bike without a proper service agent. I don't like outside mech to repair / service my bike's engine. Only let them change tyres and small minor things.

But hope you are happy with your repair.
