Designated lanes for motorcycles?

motorcycle lanes incorported as an afterthought would not flow seamlessly with the road system. eg, the roads leading to tg piau have them. you have to merge in and out of the lanes between cars. moreover it seems these motorcycle lanes are sandy and prone to potholes.

meet with a slower moving 2-wheelers and you are forced to slow down and overtake from the car lanes. car drivers will see you encroaching into their territory and won't let you come out.

this allows for more discrimination to motorbikers...........

seem Uk have a bike lane too.. Specially for bus bicycle and motorbikes,

Personally, I would not ride in the bike lane, seems very restricted like that..

1 - bikes dun really keep in lane. we try to sqeeze whenever safely possible cuz car are very tat lor.

 

2 - even if we keep in lane, cars will try to tailgate us to force us out or to go faster or they simply sqeeze past us.

 

3 - a motorcycle lane makes the rest of the road safer. (cars wun haf to wori abt bikes sqeezing past them, we wun haf to wori abt sqeezing in between cars)

 

4 - quite hard for the bike lane to jam up.

 

wat do u guys tink? pls comment

 

mayb can even lower insurance and road tax if it pulls thru.. (since we use less of the roads??)

Have u seen the traffic junctions in Taipei?

 

they have yellowboxes in the front just for bikes. Cars behind.

 

plus designated parkings on pavements. It's a dream place for bikers

FYI, sqeezing and moving in between traffic is legal.. provided you do it properly, meaning signalling and allowing enough space..

 

serving in and out of traffic dangerous is illegal!!
