Hi,

 

I'm planning a ride to Hua Hin from Singapore in late March for the Golf Masters. I have done this trip twice in the last few months so know what to do. However my friend wants to ride also but doesn't have a bike and also is not allowed to ride in Singapore. He has a valid Swiss license.

 

Does anyone know of a place to hire a decent size bike 800cc+, from in Malaysia, either JB or 2nd Link, close to the Singapore border? The plan is to pillion him over and then off we go. Failing that I guess KL is an option.

 

Any tips much appreciated.

if you can rent a bike in Singapore would be ok for your friend to drive

cause can drive with any valid European license.

He can even buy a bike and ride in Singapore with this license, from than he has 12 months time to convert his license to a singaporean all he need to do is take the theory test at any centre.

Actually he has a Singapore license, but is currently banned from driving in Singapore, that's why we need to hire in Malaysia, using his European license.

 

I don't think it's possible to rent a bike anywhere in Singapore. I made some enquiries but was told nobody does it anymore because insurance coverage is not possible.

wow, just went Penang the last weekend.

 

Very much all in one: got food, history, shopping and beach

 

imho, batu ferringhi is too touristy

 

But, Yeah Penang's a pretty nice place.

I'm planning to ride through austria, switzerland, italy, germany nuts.

 

Unfortunately due to time constrain, i can only max out to a 3 day rental.

 

Do let me know/PM me.

 

Has anyone rode in that region? where can i source for good road maps?
