Hi.. I'm a current learner from CDC. If you guys don't mind me asking and posting in this thread, for those who have been on the road, just to verify, if you stopped at the filter lane because you need to give way to traffic, before moving off you

a) Check back left?

b) Check back right?

c) Check back right and left?

Your guidance is much appreciated. :)

As i know check for traffic then check back right move off then check blindspot right or left left depends turning right or left.check blindspot before give way line

Before entering filter lane, check left blindspot (lane change)

Turning in filter lane, check left blindspot (negotiating a bend)

To check for on coming traffic, check your right(Not check back right)

If clear, continue moving, before exiting filter lane, check back left (blindspot) - needless to say if got traffic, you stop. After stopping, when traffic clear, check back right and before exiting filter lane check left blindspot.

So, you need to check back right and left if you stop and give way to traffic at a filter lane?

if i were you, I would check back right then when the bike starts moving just a little bit, check LEFT blindspot.

of course, before moving, you already know the traffic is clear, i treat it like the SSDC circuit start point, the situation is similar.

Check back right, then check left blindspot.. Left blindspot is when you're still in the filter lane?

Went for my road revision earlier today and verified with the instructor regarding check back at filter lane. Asked him, if you stopped at filter lane because you need to give way to traffic, before moving off, he mentions check left and right. He further added that "Everytime before moving off is check back right, and turning left is check left". Therefore, check both right and left.

Some mentioned that if you are the Second bike in the filter lane, you check back right first, then check back left at the exit?

You have to check back right if you stop at the filter lane. After moving off, check left blindspot. Checking left blind spot and checking back left is totally different.

If you are the second rider, wait for the first rider to move off Then check back right,if clear, accelerate slowly, check left blindspot and exit filter lane.

"Checking left blind spot and checking back left is totally different."

How different? And what's the difference?

i think its check back right when MOVING OFF. unless the kerb is on the right, then check left.

when moving, always check in the direction you are turning.

blindspot is when you are moving and your mirrors cant show you who is beside you so you check your BLINDSPOT. you only check when you are turning, if turning left check left, if turning right check right.

checking back is for moving off to see if there are oncoming vehicles or whatever.

like SSDC starting point, check back right to move off and check left blindspot because you will be turning left then its a right bend immediately so check right.

Check Back Left is when the kerb is on your Right side E.g. When you're waiting to do a right turn just outside SSDC or Waiting to do a U-Turn. You Check Back Left because you have to be sure that no other motorist are trying to squeeze through. You only check back before moving off.Regardless of left or right. Before moving off,Check Back

Checking Left/Right Blindspot is before entering a bend, corner and before changing lanes. While on the move

Checking Back requires you to turn your whole head backwards.Where your chin touches your shoulder. And look BEHIND you.Not the ground(seen alot of students doing that, and got penalized). To check if there is any other motorist oncoming.

Checking left Blindspot requires you to just turn your head to either left or right side to check if there's any motorists beside you.Where you cant see them in your mirror.Hence it is called BLIND spot. You practically cant see them unless you turn your head.

Hi guys! Just enrolled into class 2B as SSDC and have a few questions regarding the practical side of lessons.

1. What are some of the equipments that we need to buy for practical lessons? I understand that helmets and elbow and knee guards are provided, but how about gloves?

2. Is there a dress code for practical 0?

Thanks in advance!

all lessons long pants/jeans with proper shoes, no sandals etc, no singlets. pretty much casual attire.

lesson 0 no need to bring anything, just casual attire.

gloves buy from canteen, $1. those durian seller type gloves.

if you are using the school helmet, MUST wear headliner, also can buy from the canteen, $1. but first lesson its free from the instructors. hygiene purposes, no one knows if you dont have a headliner but trust me... those helmets... *urgh*

i spent $80 for my helmet/glove/knee/elbow pads, good investment imo, more hygienic also.

If have personal hygiene issues, get your own personal set of elbow and knee guards. If not,use the ones provided at SSDC.But be warned. They smell...

Alternatively you can buy the the stuff from helmetboys located at admiralty.Google them. They have a bike learned package.

I think most of the guys have given the answer; i.e. check back right before move off and as bike start to move, check left blindspot.

But just want to add that you probably don't want to stop too close to the give way line, to give yourself some distance & time to do the above when moving off.
