Seriously, bike ownership is less than 200k people, I think. 200k people of a nearly 4 billion population is a murmur in the crowd. Its not even a concern since bikers have been painted by mainstream media as trouble makers, accident causers most of the time. Couple with the old 2T smokey bikes and bikers who choose to act irresponsibly (e.g. riding on pedestrian pavement, climbing onto kerbs and walkways to avoid gantries), I have a feeling that bikers have been made a target of dislike by the media for the general populace.

 

As for taxes, economics will prove that in order for taxes to be effective, it must be aimed at the general population and not just the rich. No point imposing a 50% luxury tax on just 10% of the super rich population. It yields lesser monies from 10% tax on 80% of the general population, and irritates the super rich. Not forgetting the fact that most big shots in garmen are also rich to begin with...

 

Gahmen don't pay income tax, don't pay tax period. If there's a documentary regarding on how our political ministers live, it would be the same as how Gaddafi or Kim Jong Il lived their lives.

 

If the govt goes full retard and imposes a 10k COE, I will try my best to get out of the country, COE is just a first of many. Usually extreme inflation is a sign of a country going bust, KFC man squandered $41 BILLION dollars and they are going to fine the citizens to make up for it. Their mistakes and we're paying for it.

I think you are referring to bike COE > 10k. Now Car COE already 80k.

 

If this being the case, if cannot afford bike, how to afford car? Its back to the BMW basics - Bus MRT Walk.

 

Just think of the motorised bicycles. Its such an affordable and clean transport solution. Guess what - LTA regulates that all cannot have throttle control, must be limited by speed, and can only use on roads. Last I know about Singapore Roads is that most are connected by highways, and motorised bike cannot go on highways. Anything that will make Government lose money is prohibited. Thats the most clear message I have.
