sorry to say but u are rd hogging.

yes u should. but varies on different traffic condition too.

nope, applies everywhere OTR.

if u are at lane 1, yes, u are still rd hogging even the speed limit is 50!!!

if tat tailgating bugger wanna speed, let him speed but dun rd hog cos it might endanger ur life

yeah.. but on hindsight, he need not horned cos 500m more down the road, he got stuck in the usual jam. HAHAHAHA!!! stupid arsehole!

also, lornie road is maciam an expressway ald, with the speeds that motorists normally travel there...

YAAA!! damn scary. and i believe they do put speed traps along there once in a while right? hence, my reluctance to speed well over the limits.

Somemore, if coming to the juntion; how about those going to turn right and somehow at the right lane, don't tell me horn them, tell them: "hey i'm coming move away."

There is no actual right or wrong for normal road, it all have to be on one-self,not to be too selffish on the road and be considerate.

this part i also not happy. sometimes, i just stay at lane 1 cos i wanna do a right turn later in front but then can kena tailgated. bloody arse! got one time this car tail gated me and then overtook me and enter the turning right lane to make a right turn. got balls to overtake me like macam racer but no balls to turn as i overtook him from the outside on the turn. THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME!! then, sometimes, one lane not enough for them. they turn on the inside then want to cut into the outside. bbdc taught me to turn into my own lane. but stupid bugger don't know how to turn. and i ALWAYS HAVE TO GIVE WAY. cos my bike not enough power to throttle away!

even if they put white markings on the road to assist driver on the turn, no use also!! might as well scrap them off the road. put markings also some driver wide turn or sharp turn. later, i weave in and out while turning, they call me reckless but all im trying to do is avoid their cars doing wide or sharp turnings.

Yap, prettty lucky no one infront of me to also jam brake, and no one behind me trying to chiong the orange light!

And lucky got take defensive riding at SSDC "Corse" A.K.A Julian taught me to control a skid, so didn't fall down. Phew! Otherwise first day if Class 2 riding new bike crash, very sway leh.

And Yes, DR800 is the Biggest single cyclinder bike ever built. (800cc 1 cyclinder)

crash bike also no problem la. it's a damn rugged bike! hahaha.. but my question is how did u managed to control it? it's a damn heavy bike!! i drift on a kupchai, very light to steer it. but on a wr 400, it feels damn heavy and high to counter-steer it at an awkward angle.

Well, i don't really agreed with this point.

Yes, try not to road hog. That doesn't mean the person can come near and horn. They can just beam. Don't tell me the traffic will not catch if speed and overtake at normal road at ex-right lane, they catch too right? Somemore, if coming to the juntion; how about those going to turn right and somehow at the right lane, don't tell me horn them, tell them: "hey i'm coming move away."

There is no actual right or wrong for normal road, it all have to be on one-self,not to be too selffish on the road and be considerate.

There's always a small allowance given for speed on the road. I've travelled 85 on a 70 and a Teep just ignored me and overtook at an est. 100+.

But that is beside the point. The right lane on any road is used for overtaking, and if someone faster is coming up from behind, get out of the way.

Many times, you defensive bikers always get pissed when someone tailgates or horns you. Soooo... angwee... sooo sensitive. But I wonder if you have noticed whether or not that car has been behind you for a while waiting for you to get the hell out of his way so he can hurry home/to work/to the hospital/to hell.

He speeds, he gets caught by TP, it's his problem. You do not enforce the law.

If you're a slowpoke, your role on the road is to get the hell out of the way. Keep left. Period.

 again, by right, yes tp catch speeder more than hogger - i really neber heard of anyone kenna summon "hogging" right lane at speed limit. unless hog emergency vehicles?

but then life operates by left - tp cant care less if a rider died a "hogger".

fwa, like that really must thank lucky stars man.

fwa, big scram. :thumb:

Well, i think there is once i believe.

That night i was travelling back home, at AYE toward CTE. I'm moving at the second lane moving at speed 90 to 100km/h, till i slow down behind a mazda which move at 60 to 70km/h (can't remember the actual speed) for think about 1 to 2 mins, there this WRX(traffic) zoom down at ex-right lane and start to slow down beside me. I thought "die la, maybe catch speeding just now" but he move to the mazda in front and ask the mazda to stop at road side.(lucky a...telling myself) The road is quite clear, very few vehicles on the road. Maybe this driver infront were caught using a phone or whatever, but he's road hogging.

Yes, ture enough, i don't enforce the law. But please no. no one is above the law.

Even moving out of the path also have to ensure safety first, furthermore moving to higher speed need time too. Not many ppl can afford a 10s car.

Even some country they stop bike (as long it two wheel) and car below 800cc to go highway or express way, but they are still allow on normal road.

Whatever things to be done, safety alway come first. No matter is my, your's or his/her, at the end of the day we just one to be with our love one safely, of cause this also doesn't mean we can road hog or be inconsiderate to other road user.

yes, common to have speed traps, so dun play play  but dun stick too much to the limit as well.

that's the key to riding, maciam balancing both ends, too slow cannot, too fast cannot, must smooth with flow of traffic, unless jam :cheeky:

the idea is that if EVERYBODY is going 100kph on a 70kph road, u wun wanna go 60kph coz too slow, but u wun wanna go 110kph coz too fast. if u go 90-100, tp wanna catch also catch EVERYBODY, not just u.:faint: so just agak agak.

Defensive as in defensive attitude.... not defensive riding.

When a driver taps his horn at you, or high beams you, what is your first reaction?

If the first thought that comes to your head is something like:

- "Fuucking car driver, pay more road tax means he big fug ar? Own the road?"

- "KNNBCCB cagers think they can bully us bikers!"

- "Cars suck! U high beam/horn me, I can out accelerate you anytime.... if I wanted too...."

- "U drive car means you rich ar? Me only poor biker, I know... but I also have right of roadspace"

... then you have an attitude problem. Probably an inferior complex.

Most of the time, ppl horn you because you are in the way. I get horned too from time to time, but my first reaction is to check whether I had done anything wrong.

Did I block his way? Lane change without checking?

Was I dreaming and road hogging?

Is my Calvin Klein/Renoma/Crocodile/Wacoal/BeeDees/Triumph G-string/thong underwear sticking out of my pants??

Especially if you're riding a 2B 4-stroker... It is a relatively slow bike. You'd best stay off the fast lane if possible. You might just get high beamed by a car and then get all flustered and start whining in SBF. I have ridden a 2B bike as a daily transport. I completely stay off the fast lane.

Hell... if these "defensive" riders got high beamed, horned, or overtaken within the same lane by me, they might even get all defensive and complain about CL2A and CL2 bikers being c0cky assholes who like to show off the power of their big bikes.

noticed how some riders like to ride in between lanes even when e road is clear. its either you get into the bloody left lane or speed up when there's someone behind you. hv to spend half the time guessing where the heck e fella is going. if u consistently stay on e line, ppl will anyhow overtake and its freaking dangerous...just an observation which i thought of sharing

Nobody likes to crash one mah. Wait become like this how? ===>

But I must say I very heng. Morning take licence, got immediate failure tester never see! :)

Afternoon skidded but didn't crash. :cheeky:

Actually I did what you did, counter steer to correct it, and lean abit to the side to counter the weight, I guess the bike hasn't tilted too much so still controllable. Then the bike righted itself, fishtailed once, then slided into the yellow box.

I guess pushing the bike from the Yishun Dam to the Yishun VICOM helped to get a feel of the bike, and I also encountered skidding on my Phantom a few times so agar agar the body know how to react.

hmm...you refering to me?:cheeky:

why speed up when someones behind you?

i rather give way for the biker to overtake otherwise like racing already liao...haha:nono:

sorry ah...kind of bad habit..BUT i do try to keep in lane most of the time and only lane split when jam or im going faster than both lanes i want to split....

i usually cruise around 80-110 on the highway, any faster i think attract the MIW attention and i value my licence very much...haha

i also found my riding style also a bit unpredictable, when going slow i try to keep to the keep more to the left/right depending on road conditions.

Difficult to explain but when riding and in the way of a faster bike, i tend to squeeze more to the left or right of lane so that the faster biker could pass me with more space.

It aint me officer...The bike is POSSESSED!!

Just wondering, do you guys high beam or horn at cars that are road hogging on the right lanes of expressways? And what is their reaction?

Usually on the highways I travel by the right lane (unless planning to filter), and often encounter road hoggers. I will highbeam them first, always from a safe non-tailgating distance, and if that doesn't work, I will horn. About 50% of them will give way after I horn, and I know they can hear the horn, cos mine is the extra loud kind. But the other 50% will bochap, and continue to road hog.

I really think this is because that the concept of the right lane as a overtaking lane, especially on the expressway is not ingrained in our driving/riding culture in Singapore. There's quite a few driver friends that I spoke to that couldn't understand why people high-beam or honk them when they drive at the speed limit on the right lane...

The only time I see these die-hard road hoggers give way is when another car tail-gate them very closely and force them to give way...

And of course the downside of this tail-gating is that it creates more dangerous road conditions...but my guess is quite a number of these road-hoggers that kena tail-gate still think that they are doing nothing wrong...

Down one gear, check left, roll on throttle, overtake from the left. No biggie.

Why waste time flashing and horning them? End up you gotta change your highbeam bulbs sooner.

i dun like to go on the right, mostly left or middle. but even then, i still can get horn or high beam, really powderful for some sh!t drivers.

dun quite like going on left lane as a lot of unexpected things can happen there. for trunk road, most just stop with a heck care attitude.

today while riding... on Brickland Road (max speed 60km/h), police van zoom passed me with no signal, siren etc at at least 90km/h.

i don't know if it's just me or anyone else have experience the same thing. if on expressway, i use lane 1 only for overtaking or riding at lane 1.5. rarely will i be tailgated on lane 1. but on normal road, come on la!! how fast u wanna go also, we'll meet at the next traffic light. that's the thing i don't understand. even if i change lane, 100% i'll overtake him at the next traffic light over and over again. so what's the point? nvm. since most of u says lane 1 is for overtaking, regardless of expressways or not, i shall keep that in mind from now onwards. cos i've always thought that only lane 1 of EXPRESSWAY is for overtaking. not normal roads. cos afterall, we can turn right at normal roads.

as for that driver who horned me, i was just keeping about 3-4 secs distance from the car in front. even if i give way, how much further can he go? tailgate the next car perhaps?? is it the trend now to tailgate? i just find it rude to tail gate others so closely.

i think wat bro Deus pointed out below has a point - If this ALWAYS HAPPENS TO you, maybe can try to anticipate and move out BEFORE the act of tailgating happens. :cheeky:

and yah.. i'm always being tailgated!! not just in lane 1 but lane 2 and 3 and filter lane and carpark also!! i'm so sick of tail gaters that i've learnt to just ignore these impatient people. if the lane in front of me is very clear, then i'll give way. else, just suck it up and wait behind me. give way also no point. there's more cars in front.

i dun like to go on the right, mostly left or middle. but even then, i still can get horn or high beam, really powderful for some sh!t drivers.

i feel for you bro. i've been horned by car drivers before for being slow in moving off from traffic lights when a car(usually big lorries) from the adjacent traffic was beating the red light and so i have to wait to let them pass before i move off. so is it my fault?

i used to take the mrt but after riding a bike, i realise that i can save a lot of time already. i bet that's the same for cars. so, why must drivers/riders are always so bothered by that extra seconds that's wasted? people slow by 1 sec in moving off, must horn. people road hogging, must horn. car suddenly change lane, must horn. slow in moving off after pump air, must horn. cannot enter carpark gantry, must horn. everything must use horn. bloody arseholes!!

that's nothing!! i've rode along BKE. and there's a trailer and a bus travelling on lane 2 and 3. as i proceeded to lane 1 to overtake, the bus lane changed to lane 1 suddenly to over take another trailer that's in front in lane 2. which means 3 big vehicles, almost side by side, at all the 3 lanes. power la! what a sight from behind. and suddenly, i didn't have the balls to lane split through.

so early in the morning but i really feel like chiming in.

i remember( remember the 5th of November..:p) once while coming home

from work i was on the ECP heading towards changi .I was going uphill and to my left i could see suntec, pan pacific etc.

traffic was hell as per normal at 6-7pm i was only a bike length behind the car infront of me and all lanes were packed! .

Then this fool behind me in a Jaguar high beams me starts tail gating me

he follows that by ever so intelligently maneuvering slightly to my 8 oclock (left behind) ,

gets in the way of the cars that were already on the 2nd lane )

and then proceeds to FORCE me out of my lane.....f*CK! ..

my only choice was to brake and fall back cause to my immediate right is the concrete barrier n the a$$ was pushing me in tat direction

what would you guys do in this situation ? im not proud of what i did after tat but i cant stand idiots like these ..

force me out of my lane, endanger my life just so he can TAILGATE the poor chap infront of me so he reaches home .2secs faster?

i speed up filtered and over took him , braked slowly till there was 2 car lengths free ahead of me , fliped him off n disappeared into the sunset ( dont worry the cars behind me after i was forced back were already stayin far ways back )

what would you guys do in this situation ? im not proud of what i did after tat but i cant stand idiots like these ..

force me out of my lane, endanger my life just so he can TAILGATE the poor chap infront of me so he reaches home .2secs faster?

i speed up filtered and over took him , braked slowly till there was 2 car lengths free ahead of me , fliped him off n disappeared into the sunset ( dont worry the cars behind me after i was forced back were already stayin far ways back )

In a heavy jam, don't bother riding in lane. Ride in between lanes. Lanesplit.

That way, you won't encounter high-beaming, impatient drivers who're out to claim every inch of roadspace. And you'll be happier and safer too.

'Cos in a pile-up situation, you will become the meat patty in a car/bike sandwich. Think about that for a moment.

Which is safer? Or should I say, which sucks less....?

Squeezing and potentially knocking mirrorrs? Or having a car e-brake in front, then slamming into his ass... then having another car slamming into your ass, crushing you in between?

Lanesplitting is a necessity for bikers. If you do not have said prerequisite skills, then stay off the roads in heavy traffic. 'Cos you will either endanger yourself by being "safe" in lane... or hinder other bikers while manuevering your bike in between cars like a tortoise.

U don't need to go fast. U just need to be able to squeeze in between at +10 or 20kph above the traffic flow... and also to be able to keep an eye on your mirror at the same time, so as to swing by back into lane to let Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner, and/or Pedrosa overtake you whenever necessary.

For me, riding on the expressway or normal roads, I would always try to keep to the middle lane. To me, if there is anything wrong or fishy with the car in front of me, i can siam left or right. hehe as long as nothing wrong with the cars there too.

with my "years" of riding, I have concluded one important thing about certain species of tailgaters. These tailgaters are active at night or very clear road conditions. They love to drive fast, doesn't matter on which lane. BUT if you happen to be on THEIR lane, they will beam you, they will horn you, they will tailgate you but they will NEVER NEVER NEVER change lanes (though the other lanes are empty) because this special species of tailgaters have NO BALLS, they are afraid to change lanes. THat's why you who is in their way must change lane to give way to them...

Have met more than my share of those guys on the expressway...

traffic was hell as per normal at 6-7pm i was only a bike length behind the car infront of me and all lanes were packed! .

Then this fool behind me in a Jaguar high beams me starts tail gating me

he follows that by ever so intelligently maneuvering slightly to my 8 oclock (left behind) ,

gets in the way of the cars that were already on the 2nd lane )

and then proceeds to FORCE me out of my lane.....f*CK! ..

I would put my left foot on his engine bonnet, see he dare to come any nearer!

Do not put the foot on the side of the car, he can say you were kicking his car.

Today while on the way home from my JB petrol run, saw a cute girl on an even cuter Hello Kitty scooter, looks like a fino, with lots of extra chromed head lights in front, and a white Hello Kitty head-shaped Cushion or box behind it.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.
