He bank executive, that's why 2 weeks only, could be up to 2 years but they give him minimum. Banned from driving, not really a big deal, most likely he'd be driving illegally anyway. Life is cheap in Singapore. I'd said it before, if you want to kill someone, use a vehicle.

First, the reality is that you are exposed and he is in a cage. Staying alive is more important than anything else. If he insists on cutting your lane even after honking, I think you should just give way to this madman. You may have the right of way, but it means nothing if you get hurt.

Second, since you managed to stop him, you should have called the police immediately. Yelling at him achieves nothing and may even put you in a bad light (for road rage). Let the police deal with him. Unfortunately, you allowed this criminal to get away scott-free and ready to hit another biker possible to the grave.

It's a sad day for motorcycling.

EDIT: I don't mean to sound harsh to the victim of the incident. I just don't want people here to get all worked up and start screaming "I'll punch the driver's teeth out" kind of things. I myself have experience the same madness on the expressway. Can you imagine a relatively small car (Alfa Romeo convertible) nudging a big, imposing sports tourer with side boxes? I was also wearing full face, jacket, gloves and boots - a total "I am a serious biker don't mess with me" look. Some drivers are simply mad. AVOID THEM.

rhema, no worries, it is what it is. Driving defensively is a good mantra to follow, and I do give way when I think best, but it is not easy to give way when you have clear right of way, i.e. someone tries to sideswipe you speed. I hear you on the freeway, it was scary at 50, I can't imagine what it would be at 80+.

I doubt calling / telling the police would make any difference. There was no one hurt, there was no government property damaged. I've been in an accident before (car turned out right in front of me, without stopping at the stop line), went to the police station down the road and they said there was nothing that they would do in that case, just do the insurance & IDAC report. And since there was no real damage done (when I was washing my bike later, found a small patch of black paint on the fork but no dent), what use was IDAC / insurance? *shrug*

If it were a hit-and-run I guess it would be something; however, he did stop (however reluctantly), even if he did not get out of the car. What would the police charge him with, where it'd come down to a 'my word against his' type thing? Need to look into those 2-by-1 recorder setups...

IIRC class3 licence takers also they show.

Do they? Don't remember having to watch any video, I only remember picking up my evaluation and then standing in line for my licence. Then again, it was a couple of years ago...

Indeed a sad thing that a person died like that, through the fault of another.

Appears the judge was swayed by the defence's suggestion that the biker could have had partial negligence since he had taken some flu medicine and was therefore potentially drowsy; this article also suggested that the bike was going too fast:

A bit surprised it is not a true zero tolerance policy on drink driving.

Perhaps this will put into perspective why I have lost hope in the judicial system here.

I also had many drivers who tried to race me, which is why I dun like to ride on Fri, Sat and Sun nights, while I leave them in the dust anywhere that has a bend or traffic...its still annoying to have these pesky Civics, Lancers and WRXs tailgating.

Because judges do not ride. Perhaps when one of their relatives decided to get a bike licence and ride and get killed then they will know.

To be fair, the defence had argued that the person they had already jailed (the Yaris driver, for 4 months), who had actually clipped the poor guy who lost his life, already admitted to being the one to do so. Still, it is somewhat surprising nonetheless...

So weird, this case is dangerous driving get 4 months. But the other car which is drunk driving get 2 week? I though drunk driving is more serious?

Additionally, I wonder if the cases where the driver is judged to be responsible, are they required to take care of the victim's family for life?

Lastly for your car, bet be safe. Just slow down. Then they will be too fast and disappear from your sight then you can speed up again. I personally have not encountered a tailgater that will continue to tailgate when I slow down and change lane. :)

If I drive car never mind, I riding leh. I was with a female pillion, I typically ride rather fast but to me its normal, road clear open so I go a bit faster la. These cars think I'm racing, race with them for what, S4 is stock with aftermarket end can, pipe is loud but for me its useful when you do bulk of your riding in heavy jams.

This car change lane when I did, I usually signal 1-2 seconds before i change lane. Obviously looking for a fight ma, so I just ignore lor.

If you're caught red handed, of course you'll admit because there's nothing else you can do. Try the numerous hit and run, drivers just keep mum until they are called up, then they admit just to reduce the charge cuz bopian. To me reduction of charges because you admitted is a moot point.

haha I encounter too like 2 times on the same road, it was at the KPE exit I usually ride 100-110km/h the car still move at 80km/h so i overtake the car. then after the exit i keep left to go to buangkok east drive. then at buangkok east drive the speed limit is 50km/h i slow down to 80km/h and keep to lane 2. This car think not happy i overtake him at KPE exit he overtake me closely and horn at me. I ignore and continue riding.

And at pungol park I encounter once a WRX rev beside me at traffic light like want to challenge me, then i rev back but once the light go green he chiong and i ride slowly haha.

Well if I'm riding something of a 600 supersports or more, the WRX would smell smoke.
