hello people, quite interested in getting a phantom due it's awesome fuel consumption. any peeps out there know of any reputable shops which sells this great bike which i can check out? your help is appreciated! thanks!

great to get a friend who is in the riding world for awhile to go with u..

even if they do not know ALOT about engine and stuff.

i think most shops would think twice to hack u if they see u brought a friend..

'bikes are your sweet poison. despite knowing it would kill, you would die just to have a taste of it. '

Its VERY important to get a friend who rides a phantom to go shopping with you, my friend went with me and pointed out what are the things to look out for ...he "failed" 4 bikes before finally giving the go-ahead for my current bike :cheeky:

thanks for the advice guys. cause i was thinking of actually trading in my current bike for a phantom at the shop cause i'm starting work and studying real soon. so got to think of fuel economy as i will be travelling alot.

HAha! ok. Are you going to wield it or change the bracket? My IU unit seems super old too! haha. Perhaps I wanna take it down to do it together when I'm doing the servicing of the bike.

Nah I wont change the bracket... just welding it is fine for me... Anyway a new IU unit cost quite a lot of money... and it can only be changed at Vicom I think..

Well I will probably go there on Monday morning-noon

ah chong: "shen mo shi?"

me: "overhaul."

ah chong: "......"

lol.

Fuel economy is good provided that you remain in 70-90km/h... Any faster means that the engine start gulping petrol lol... At least for me...

Hey guys, I don;t know if it sounds dumb, but how do I know if it's a full tank on my Phantom? How much do I actually pump till? IS there a gauge to see how much there is? And how big is the fuel tank in a phantom...?

If your shoes are getting wet id say time to stop pumpng petrol.:cheeky:

The tank is 11L . Fill it untill petrol is at neck of the tank from the time the warning light appears its about 9.5L or approx 34km until u are walking if you dont fill up. :cheeky:

"Shake your fuel tank," they said.

Of course you cant really shake the fuel tank...

you would have to go by maths... either you calculate roughly how far your phantom can run before hitting reserve, or just refill when whenever you hit reserve. Best that you don't hit reserve...

Dun fill the tank until its too full... leave a little air in the tank

i always fill up to the brim. Usually pump before hitting 300. or 400 before reserve.. raft figures =)

ok, Thanks for the info! Now I'm trying to hit my reserve to feel how is it. Perhaps just this once. Any idea how much can it run for when it hit the reserve? At least like that I can still guage how much I can go for a petrol station! haha

Multiply 35 +/- x how much main has before reserve and you have it. Math. Good to try beforehand before you move off how to switch from ON knob to Reserve.

Hi guys! i need some opinions..

Until recently abt 2 weeks ago, my gear cannot seem to be able to engage gear 1...when i try to kick down it will be stuck at neutral...even at stationary or slowing down. Sometimes lucky can engage back to gear 1..otherwise i will have to keep on upping gear and down gear..

I do hope its the EO problem and not because of my gear box...cause i recently changed from maxima semi to motul 5100, mileage going to hit 2k soon since the last change...

Need some advice from bros here :)

Just to update you guys, I've went to Hua Chin to get some opinions of it + tried changing of engine oil. The mech told me that the gear lever needs to be changed, around $60~ Naturally I didn't change as I would want to get a second opinion before i spend $60...

Went down to Planet and ask Ah Chong for advise, he told me he'll try bending it to see how before it needs to be changed. He took a spanner, bend it upwards and tadah! No problems now! I've saved $60! He didn't even charge me a single cent! But in the end I changed my right mirror as it had cracked previously. Kudos to Chong!

Thats what i like about ah Chong. If he can do it without charging u $, he does it. I'm sure Silent hunter can vouch also lol. Read his post, try to do so many things to get Ah Chong to charge him, in the end have to buy fuses so that can pay Ah Chong money :D

Ay that time my throttle grip came loose, he took quite a bit of trouble to glue it back and stuff also nv charge. Before i went up to desaru, Saturday 9pm+ at night go look for him to help settle some bike things, he also nv charge.

Its almost like he does it for a hobby... LOL.

but of course you all read liao please dun go and expect to get free things ok? Dun take advantage of nice "rich" old man Chong.

Well, it probably ranges from $500 - $5k? My point is, there are too many factors to take into account. If take from shop primarily is how "carrotable" you are, secondarily is age and condition of bike. Really need to go ask yourself.

Why not try looking in Phantom Buy & Sell Thread? :thumb:

Q: Is the straight bar "in" recently? I've received many PMs regarding where to obtain/install those. Can someone answer this here on my behalf? Been kinda tired to source for others and end up taken for granted. I however don't recommend Orange shops to whoever who PM me, personal experience is uncontestable.

With smiles,
