Hello, everyone. Hope the week has been going well for all. Tomorrow is already Friday, thank god.

Anyway, the reason for this new thread is I am a new rider. I know next to nothing about bikes and I hope I can get some insights here.

For my first bike, I will be getting a second hand Gilera Runner from a shop. Will the shop provide to me any documents when I purchase the bike, apart from the invoice for the payment I made? I mean, documents such as vehicle ownership and insurance, etc.

I was told that the shop will service the bike prior to collection. However, there are some people who also advised me to send the bike for servicing straight after collection. Is it really necessary?

How often do you guys send your bike for servicing? Is there any workshop that does servicing specifically for Gilera Runner?

Also, when the road tax and insurance expire, will the relevant authority send me a letter to renew or I will have to remind myself? Is there anything else that I should take note of?

Thank you. Have a nice weekend ahead.

Firstly welcome to the riding community.I hope you have done all the possible finances. Things like maintenance and servicing etc. Bikeshops are doing sales. These salesmen will let you hear all the nice things to get you to put ink on paper. Once that is done its pretty much your problem thereon. As long as its under hire purchase owner of the bike will be the shop's name. Read up the different threads of this forum and you will learn what you want to know. Last but not least ride defensively.
