Difficult to identify.... cos i have the same problem... and it still hasn't gone away.. What i've done in order:

1. Wash carb

2. Change carb hoses

3. Change sparkplug

4. Change plug coil

5. Change air filter

and it still doesn't go away..... so now suspecting the CDI is faulty.... but me being me... the bike still moves, so i can't be bothered to do anything anymore. Wait till completely cannot start one day then go repair.

thanks for your reply. I have another problem. Sometimes when i kick up or down a gear, the gear gets stucked at the kicked position. You gotta use ur feet to condition it back so that you can do your next gear change. Does the problem lie with my EO?

i have been experiencing this problem and it shows up when i travel >50.

More common, it surfaced when i am travelling 90-110. There is a 'less than half a sec' disengage (like clutched in) when i maintained my throttle and speed, causing a mere lag and slight drop. It feels like a roller coaster taking half a sec lag in the midst of a full speed ride.

Can anyone help to identify this problem? Thanks.

Pls check ur carb keihin type CVK. ( Diaphragm Jam)

i ever got slight power loss issue and traced it to a loose fuel pump. while tightening the fuel pump, found my fuel hose abit cracked. so got it replaced as well. power loss problem was since resolved. i was lucky. :cheeky:

the above is to re-iterate the point on carb hoses, especially for those with CBR nearing 8years of age like mine. if your bike is usually parked unsheltered and exposed to sun, be prepared to change your hoses even earlier than 8yr old.

is the gear-lever-stuck issue only encountered when u start using yr current EO?

is this the 1st time u use this brand/type of EO?

if answer is no for the above 2, then look into the clutch & gearbox related areas.

personally feel that if there is no power disengagement/power loss while the gear lever is stuck, can rule out clutch as source of problem.

that leaves gearbox as the main suspect.

:faint:

if answer is yes for either or both qns, then try replacing EO of new/usual brand.

my bike is 9 years old. i do park in the open very often. i am not aware that the hoses can wear out too. guess its time to change a carb hose..

my full syn EO is supposed to last me 5000km of mileage. I had no problem with this EO and has been using it for2 years.

Firstly, this symptom happens especially when i ride after a downpour. The gear change (either up or down) willnot be smooth and the gear gets stucked at kicked position. It usually goes away after a 10 mins ride or so on (i presume the rain water dries up). However, this condition has been persisting for the last 2 days since the downpour... hmm?

lube your gear shifter with wd40

Last May i changed my chain to RK-X ring. I made the decision as i was told that when taken care of, the chain can last you beyond a year, in good cases, up to 3 years.

This May, i was told my sprocket can last me only another month, and was recommended to change both. I was dumbfounded.

Is it general that both must be changed together? Can i just change the sprocket alone? My rk-x ring is in good condition - it needed no adjust over one year.

If the sprocket cannot last, there is no point choosing a good chain since the weaker dictates the change of both.

Just tahan until snap... if you take care of the chain (i.e. lube and clean every week), it won't even snap unless you over tighten it... for me i bought the cheapest of the cheap chain sprocket set.... JT, sunrise sprocket la with a cheapo DID chain... lasted me close to 2 years no problem... i abused it in every way imaginable.. rev and throw clutch making the chain keep stretching.... refuse to clutch in when slowing down in high gear, making the chain jump around wildly.... Over tightening it and doing both....

Sure it made strange noises but i kept it cleaned and lubed... no worries! I finally changed it for the sake of changing last month.... on my 2nd set of cheapo chain sprockets now.

hi guys earlier on was chatting with my friends abt gear indicator then i ask if our bike can be used too the he ask me this ~ " Does your bike has a speedocable infront of the wheel, which read your speed to your speedo? I also need to know if you know where is your RPM wire?" . I jst got this bike 1 month ago and still exploring it, newbie here. So can any of the rider help me ? thanks :cheeky:

Jack up the bike.... get an old t shirt and some dishwashing liquid... apply liberally on the shirt and wipe it down, and then wipe off the soap. If your grease is too strong.... use wd40 to spray it off the chain and wipe it off later.

This is subjective.... some pple say will spoil.... but for me the results has been tested and proven!

Yes.... look for the wire from your front wheel... its exactly where he says it is..

This is what i have found:

A common misconception with chain replacement is to change you chain and sprockets at the same time. This is only true if you use aluminum sprockets. If you use steel or factory sprockets, the rule of thumb is two chains to one set of sprockets. That is, of course, if you replace your chains before they are so bad they damage the steel sprockets. Unless you wish to change your gearing when your chain wears out, simply replace the chain. A good chain costs about $100, and a rear sprocket can run around $75 or more. Even if the second chain wears out a little bit faster than the first chain, you'll still end up saving a grundle of money without compromising safety.
