should be pretty minor stuff bah

go have yr carburettor washed and tuned

at the same time, ask them to check

1. yr choke cable if it's still working fine

2. air filter element to see if it's time to get it replaced

juz change my air fliter at about 7.5k km.

when ride till a certain mileage.. air fliter over use le then bike cant go on high speed or random.. like today 6th gear 110, if got that problem 6 gear full throttle only 90. but till its not fully use up both scenario will happen at random.

so i juz ask ah chong again, he said plug can last longer so now after i change air fliter bike is ok again.

And one more thing guys.. my bike 2nd hand.. bought it last early sept.. till nw only thing i do is change engine oil n spark plug often.. other than that nothing else.. carb carb carb.. wat am i supposed to do to it? Anything to do regularly ? coz i wan service or do watever before problems come.. prevention better than cure.. so any other regular service needed? erm.. :help: :help:

Posted

well.. for carb if nothing is wrong, recommendation is not to touch it... say if ur bike is around 10k mileage, maybe can consider changing air filter.. and note to top or check ur coolant, and brake fluid now and then...

Hi. I'm new here and I'll be collecting my bike this Sat. Is there anything I should now about running in the bike? Other than not going above 80 km/h, is there anything else I should take note of?

It's a new one. So I would like to know if there's anything I should take note to take care of the new engine. P-plates's already been fixed in.

i think its good to check out the owner's manual as posted by one of the bros here 1 or 2 pages back in this discussion thread

its really helpful to know which parts are located at which position of the bike

as for the part abt running in the new engine

for me i would do the following:

1. travel at max 6K RPM

2. do a 1st oil change at 200KM

3. do a 2nd oil change at 500KM

i prefer to keep watch of the running in process in terms of RPM than speed.

reason being a person can full throttle till it hits 10K RPM while in gear 1 and probably still remain within 80kmph. although technically he still kept within the 80kmph guide, he is still doing the new engine no good.

as for why the oil changes are performed so much earlier than recommended in owner's manual, reason is much of the 'seasoning' process takes place in the early stages of operating. so to me, it would be a good idea to get rid of the 1st batch of metal fillings created during the 1st 200km travelled

bro

yr temperature gauge still running so high up after u have gotten the coolant topped up ah?

if yes, then i guess u need to check on 2 things.

1. radiator system (whether izit working, or is the coolant topped up previously flowing when the bike is running)

2. the fan located behind the radiator (whether isit still working)

ok, this is the confusing part.

under the fuel tank is what all bike shops and mechanics call the air filter, however, from honda CBR150R parts book, that so-called air filter is actually called air cleaner.

the one under the seat from the parts books says it's called the air filter. that's what naruto13 meant. in most instances, bike shops will change the air cleaner for u, but neglect the air filter.

from my experience, once i changed the air filter for limbat last yr, his bike was less than a year old. we examined the new and used air filter. turned out that the used one is kinda blackish and dirty le. so ppl who experienced loss of power after all the usual spark plug and carb and air cleaner checks and change can consider changing the air filter.
