3rd Update after painting the exhaust using high temp paint.

If you guys remember I was painting my exhaust using high temp paint and this is the update

The paint in the first quarter of the exhaust pipe didn't hold up very well. It kept on peeling off and I painted it a second time.

Then I cured it really slowly. I mean first start the bike for a few mins.

Then let it cool for a few hours. Then start it for a bit longer. Then cool off. Then take it for a small ride in the road leading to my house. Then cool off. Then around the block. Again cool off.

Anyways after just 5 weeks from painting now the whole paint is nowhere to be found around the exhaust manifold and already showing small dots of rust

I guess I will have to shop for a more expensive brand in a couple of months (when I have the money) and try it again

Hello again my friend.

Just curious. May i know whats the reason for doing the above mentioned step?

Also, could u provide us with the brand of the paint u used? perhaps we could look for a similar kind here in Singapore?

Note: this is a chance to buy heat resistant exhaust sticker which none of our local sticker shops carry. they also have an interesting range of race replica stickers at ok prices. according to website, should be free shipping. to be safe, use exchange rate of SGD$1.60 to USD$1. payment will be arranged before order is processed.

did you sand it before paint application?

Posted
Ya.. I am very unlucky. I thought that the shop is pretty good because I didn't see any comments about it here.

But no comments doesn't mean it's good. :dot:

hm...actually one part of me felt that u were simply one new carburettor away frm restoring the bike to gd condition...

:cheeky:

anyways, since u already got rid of the bike already, then just get it over and done with.

honda wave is a good bike. but outlook wise, tink the yamaha cubs look better. try to avoid high mileage wave w/ digital odometer. reason being the meter will get stuck at 99,999km once it reaches that kind of mileage. cant be sure whether any shop able to solve this issue or not though.

the pricing is also OMG.

how abt get a permanent fix?

have the pipe chrome plated.

:cheeky:

this thought of mine will continue to remain a dream, cause really no budget to do chroming. :pity:

:btw: i have an idea for project.

have my main frame stickered to matt black.

base on the pic in my avatar, do u guys think the bike will turn out ok w/ the matt black mainframe? not going to do it for the swingarm & front forks though. have got too many uneven areas on the swingarm, will be especially difficult w/ my amateur sticking skills.

:cheeky:

so matt black frame, silver swingarm + front fork.

any comments?

oh. did it stay for long? our friend from sri lanka mentioned something about switching on the bike, and letting it cool. and then switching on again but this time let it heat up for longer time and letting it cool again. repeat process with more heating up each time. i wonder why?
