Or hw abt.. No matter where or who u buy a 2nd hand bike from, its always a risk we take.

i agree w/ yr statement.

actually the scenario which i bought my bike was pretty similar to xbfish's.

shop i went to didnt have any 2nd hand cbr150, so they recommended me to another shop for it.

i was attracted by the fact that the bike is painted in repsol colors.

after the purchase did i realise that the repsol i have is not the original repsol paintwork.

:sian:

money was paid to the 1st shop who did the recommendation for the purchase. besides crappy after sales 'warranty', they were totally not prepared for free parts replacement + didnt have the skills to solve the problems that the bike had immediate upon my purchase.

conclusion is, 'warranty' is plain crap.

anybody experienced this prob?.. -> lack of power in gear one? i duno how to explain.. but it seems kinda abnormal.. different from the normal feelin.. yesterday i went back to MAH motors to collect some papers and raincoat. i asked the mechanic lor. he do do the cutch screw there then rev here rrev there then say ok already. it was ok for a while.. and then it became "powerless" again. sianz.

u mean the mech adjusted clutch biting poitn screw at the right hand side of engine area? hm...the lack of power is for gear 1 at all RPMs? or izit specific to only certain RPM? i usually only rev up to 4K RPM before i up to gear 2. dont like to drag low gears.

Ok I begin my story now:

I got my bike from a shop at Eunos during March. The boss there promised me a 6month warranty should my bike goes wrong. So I thought it was pretty good and was too excited that I instant down-payment my bike.

The problem here is, I did not get to see my bike as the shop will be getting from another bike shop. Hence, I do not know of the conditions of the bike. Mind you, my CBR150 is quite expensive when I bought the bike.

Hi, which shop was it? Care to drop a hint or something? :thumb:

Ayy, you're very unlucky that you've got a lemon one. By right 4 stroke bike shouldn't give you a any problems provided it's taken care of.

I feel for you.

You should have check the bike physically and test it out before down paying it.

actually not really... mine is a 2nd hand bike... but the thing is... previous owner is a close personal friend of mine. and i know him to be very careful about bike maintainence. so... getting 2nd hand bike is a good option if u are cash strapped. BUT! make sure u know the owner... if not... get 1st hand. all that savings for a 2nd hand bike wont justify all the hassle and worries that u will have later on.

Outlook problems:

- Side fairings mechanism crack so my side fairing is always flapping

- Middle bottom right fairing crack but they bore it to a curve shape

- One side fairings and 2 rear farings bottom screw slot broken

Therefore, my fairings gives a "can't be screw tight" look.

But, I got some parts that is new or first-hand:

- Speedometer

- Tail-light

- Head-light

- Radiator

- Head fairing

- Windscreen

Other than these, I have the fluctuation of idling RPM. My engine will stall during traffic light. This happen on the day I get the bike. So I called up the boss and he asked me come down tomorrow.

So I came down and the mech said that it was because of the dirty fuel tank. He cleaned my fuel tank and tune my carb. Now, my engine does not stall but the fluctuation of idling RPM still persists. The mech said it is normal for this to happen. And I thought case closed then.

Until when we have a gathering, I met great fellows like you guys and you guys told me that the fluctuation of idling RPM is not normal. So i go back the shop and the mech insisted that this is normal.

I am so fed-up that I went down to planet to do my bike. Changed the carb needles, jet-spring and fuel needle. But the problem is still there. So ah chong suggest that we stripped down the engine and see how it goes.

The engine was stripped down and my gasket, piston and piston rings all chao ta because the coolant from the radiator leaked into the top block. This could be due to my shop mech did not properly install the radiator that results in the coolant leaking. No doubt that my bike is so hot when I am only riding a short distance.

Finally I thought, the engine is new, carb mechanisms are new. The fluctuation of idling RPM still persists. Then ah chong from Planet compared my carb with Chris carb. There is a difference, my carb was bore to a bigger hole so that air and fuel intake is larger so that the speed will increase. Ah chong sugguested that if I want a perfect bike, I should change my carb because a modified carb will do the engine no good in the long run.

In addition, I always have problem kicking the gear. Ah wei from Planet change my gear screw because he told me my bike previously was installed with racing footrest. When my shop changed back to stock footrest, they re-use the racing footrest screw, therefore my gear is very hard to kick and sometimes get stuck.

All in all, I have spent a lot in doing this bike but the problem is still there considered that my cam-chain and tensioner is going to up lorry soon.

So I went back to my shop yesterday and told him all the problems I have had and sick of this problematic bike they sold me. I bought up the topic of they giving me warranty for 6 months (which is still in-effect) and said that I have overhaul the engine elsewhere.

I told them the fluctuation of idling RPM problem and now the boss said it is not normal. But I told him that the mech said it was normal. He insisted that his mech will not say like this. Well, what could I do?

Whats make me boil is he said that if I have a problem, I should come down to his shop to do since I have the warranty. I should not go other shop because the mech and his mech might each said a point and there might be disagreement. He also said that this will result in a bad image of his mech.

Furthermore, he said that if the problem still persists, I can find him back and not the mech. But he himselves if not a mech, I find him back for what use? When I find him about the rattling sound of the engine which is caused by the cam-chain tensioner, he said it was because my engine oil need a change. Wtf?

But fact is fact, he and his mech is really no skills. My fluctuation of idling RPM is not normal. So he suggested that he will wash and tune my carb and see how it goes because he said that my carb could be spoilt because planet mech might have spoilt my carb.

I was like wtf? why not change a carb for me. I have wash tune at his shop umpteen times and even at planet. The problem does not lies with the carb dirty.

Lastly, I get enough of his bullshit and push back to him. I have learnt my lesson very well. When I pushed back my bike to him, he still insists me of getting NSR150SP if not I will have to top up him because there is still $1400++ installment left.

I get into a flare arguements and he finally agreed that I will not top him up.

Pushing back to the shop is the last resort I have. The bike has exceed my budget in repairing or servicing. It is just not worth because it is already beyond economical repairs to make it like what Zed and Stan bikes had enjoyed.

If I keep on throwing money in repairing and servicing, the amount is already sufficiently to get a first-hand CBR150.

What's more, my bike COE die at early 2013 and the bike is involved in a serious accident before. The front frame can be seen as being welded back and the frame below the fuel tank is in a bad shape.

So, a hard decision from me was passed down. Despite this situation I faced, I still loved the CBR150.

Just blame it on my lucks in getting it from a black shop. They just like to talks but no actions.

censor bike tiam name censor bike tiam name!

moral of story, never trust bike shops?

Nope. Moral of story, never get from that shop.

no no. moral of the story. buy your stuff as if u would buying stuff in thailand pasar malam.

CHECK IT SO GOD DAMN ANALLY,

then start to talk about the pricing and the stuff.

and, never get accident bikes.. minor one ok. major one no go!

....really scary ;_; so many horror stories of ppl getting chopped bigtime le..maybe its better not to save the extra 1-2k buying+restoring 2nd hand bike..at least got peace of mind =s

ya lizzy, got risk one lo. we buy used, we get cheap, we get risk. its like a wheel.. you know...

So xbfish, whats next?? Bigger cc? :p

Not sure ahh... Cash-strapped liao...

icic~

sorry to read abt yr bad experience w/ the shop also

as wat the other bros & sisters are kaypoh abt, wats yr plan?

anyway, frm the way u described, i suggest that u check back on whether the shop has got the bike transferred away frm yr ownership.

one possible bad scenario is that the finance company comes knocking on yr door to press for repayment of installments for the bike that u already pushed back to shop

:giddy:

I not sure of my plan yet. Maybe getting wave or what.. cheap alternative.

The shop finance for the installment. So there is no third-parties involved. No worry :cheeky:

Clutch plate. Sounds serios. Lol. Ex to repair? :x need to wait for nxt pay siaah.

Yaa gear one only. Rest all a-okayy..

If the problem doesn't affect all gear, then it should not be the clutch-plate :)

Changing clutch plate is cheap, the workmanship is strip down the engine to replace the clutch plate is .... :sian:

Yeah, most of the shop "warranty" is bullshit. After-sales service is very very poor.

I still remember that my bike shop boss promised a new 6 month road tax for me. In the end, I have to pursue him for it until he very fed-up and give me.

Also, he promised to replace the chain and sprocket when I was going to buy my bike But when I asked for it, he said wait till spoilt then changed..

Loads of bullshit.

2 letters with Motorsports behind.

I initially thought they have given me a good service. But as times goes by when more problem of my bike surfaced, their after-sales service do sucks.

And yes, failure to check the bike physically and testing it is a very huge mistake I have made.

I hope those getting 2nd-hand bike can learn from my lesson. :(
