is it possible to get license and buy a bike without letting parents know?

or u can try what i did, started to tell them i wanted to learn to ride, then naturally my dad said no.

kept asking for about a year but the reply was always no, disappointed, i tried another method...

i went to enroll first, then,

sat down with my mom and did, ask them this simple question...

mom, dad, you rather i tell you that i'm learning how to ride a bike or i keep it from you two?

they ask me with this blur look, whats the different?

told them one is that i let you know that i'm currently learning,

other is i just keep it from you and won't update you of any progress.

well, this is a lan lan one for them, either way, i'm so called letting them know indirectly...

so it's my part of letting them know and their choice of wanting me to update them or not.

end up, after thinking for awhile, they finally said rather i tell them what i'm doing.

to my supprise, when i got my first bike, they were so nice as to help me pay up in full cash for my bike. 3k otr for a nsr 150 but kanna cheated sia, too ex... lolz...

change bike, don't want to do bike loan, end up they also help me, so from paying back bike shop, now got to work and pay them back.

 

bottom line, it's better to tell, if u don't, u gain nothing but only losing their trust when they find out.

if u do tell, u have alot more to gain than to lose. =)

 

LTA letter all u can change ur mailing address, don't want them to find out is easy, till u get into ur first accident, can bluff ur friend ride u behind, he buang, but parents ain't that stupid as they have gone thru what we have. so just tell them and hope for the best, but they still say cannot, u can try what i did, give them the "option" of knowing what you are doing or not. =D

my dad didnt allow me to ride, even going for license... he even threatened to disown me.. u noe the kind, throw me out of the house... my dad being the traditional chief of the family... patriarch u can say...

well, i juz went for it anyway...

 

i got my license w/o my dad knowing... but i told my mum... my dad only got to know of it when my photocard license came home... abt me buying bike, i pretty much make sure that i used MY own money for MY own bike... after i put a downpayment for my bike, i told my mum, which naturally, being my dad's wife, he got to know of it too...

 

but the thing abt t is that i used MY OWN money... some of u guyz want to buy bike using cash tat may be so-called 'loaned' from ur parents, it actually gives ur parents a say abt u biking anot..

 

my ans, if u want to ride that bad enuff, u shuden have to depend on ur parents... that means ur in the "driving seat", and since ur above 18, u dun really need ur parents to tell u wat to do, no?? thats for those who actually have that fear that parents going to disown them..

 

it is ur hard-earned money after all...

 

for those abt hiding from ur parents... juz a quick werd, they will still know abt u riding... they are our parents and they will instantly detect if we r hiding sumthing from them...

 

juz tell them abt ur decision to ride and be FIRM about it... slowly ur parents will learn to accept that ur riding and will juz get on with their lives... my dad did juz that...

my parents said they will disown me if i get my bike license. eventually after a year, i quietly took my bike license and eventually i forgot to hide my 2b blue book. Thus my mom saw it and asked if i taking bike license. i said yeah. (she shakes head). Then eventually pass my bike tp, they help me buy bike. lol

i am seriously contemplating on learning bike and buying a cheap one to ride to school as i travel from west to east everyday . my parents are seriously against me riding , so my rebellious streak has finally emerged:) just wanna know as a student who gets 400 a month allowance can maintain a bike . wads the cheapest upfront for gettting bike , insurance , license ,gear . and any got techniques to hide riding a bike ? helmet got helmet lock . etc . but will they mail any bike documents to letter box? is it safe to put house phone number when buying bike . real noob here . cant stand the travelling time everyday ... damn sian . i scared one day kena accident they will find out though . hahaha . any help is rlly appreciated . heard insurance quite ex also . esp under 25yrs old with no riding exp . thx . can sms me 98416525 if got any further help

seriously speaking... you should definately get your parents approval no matter wad..

 

for me.. i took my 2B license.. at first told my parents..

asked my mum first.. she said no.. so i asked my dad..

then he said ask my mom.. so i LL lor.. go back room...

after tat i enroll 2B liao.. i go prac 1 then about prac 3 or 4 i let them know..

but not tell them directly..

wad i did was to bring a helmet home..

then my mom looked at me and had that kinda of eyes like..

WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU HOLDING A BLO*DY HELMET?!

then they start to qns.. so i said lar.. learning..

also.. i told them that i so far up until this prac also nvr fall or wad.. bike safe lar..

then i said lar.. i everything 1 or 2 times only.. should be can.. just let me try..

oh ya.. the golden sentence i used was.. i get license also dun mean get bike.. i just wan license wad..

of cos parents being parents would say.. liddat you might as well dun get the license..

so here's the part.. you say.. i already enroll liao.. wasted so much money on prac and registration.. then u ask me stop.. at least let me finish lar...

 

as for the bike... when i booked TP that time.. my parents gradually opened up to me riding.. my dad even follows me to go bike hunting as well.. then he will give advice say this bike no cannot.. that bike cannot.. i ask him lar.. u got ride b4 ar? he say ya... then i say, then y last time u dun let me learn.. he say i ride b4 i know how dangerous bikes are..

but ended up when i bought bike they also din really know.. all i said was.. tmr i might be buying a bike.. they just keep quiet lor...

then when i pay deposit.. the next day my parents both go down to see the bike and then help me sign the documents also...

 

this shows that with much persuasion your parents would definately open up and let you learn and ride one..

haha.. my csae almost similar.. except that my mom saw the helmet... i used to put it into a cardboard outside my house and then i would lock it.. but after some time it would get a little tiring.. so i decided..that was the time i faced the truth.. i brought the helmet in and sure enuff they nag from the moment i step in until the moment i went to slp.. hahahaha

but when i bought bike really felt very happy that they didn't disapprove.. instead they started to give advice like.... go out dun speed.. always look out for taxis and lorries.. as long as you promise to be safe they would allow you to go and learn and get a bike....

i think that getting a class 2b by persuading ur parents is easier..

 

COMPARED to buying a bike after passing ur TP.. parents will say u ar too young to ride/ own a bike/ how will u maintain ur bike/ u r not mature enuf/ this is all not neccesary for u.. all these reasons will come out.. wat to do?? like that confirm pushed to the decision nt to tell them that u r buying a bike rite???

LOL my dad is the same as yours,he has a class 2,and used to ride a big sport bike,but he dun wan to tell me what he rode before.damm...

 

But my dad also dun wan me to ride,same as my mum,they die die dun wan me to ride...but can give me learn,so when i pass,i told my dad that i cannot afford to get a car,and i need a transport to go to work from home..as is really very sick to take the bus in the moring,so damm packed always...

 

starting they keep on say no,but end up they also say ok (but when i buy my bike,my mum knew,but my dad not yet know) when i told him,he did scold me,but only 10mins LOl,after that he teach me how to ride safely also LOL..

 

so from my point of view,is just tell them lor,tell them u really need your own transport to go school,tell nicely..cos if u dun tell them and touch wood u bang!!! then siao liao!!..dunno how to see your parents and ans sia..

 

BUT since when that they knew i am riding,,my mum has be very good to me,,every moring before i go work,will tell me " son ride carefully hor,dun speed ar" and thoese raining days,she ask me dun ride la,,take bus..and she also prays for my safely lol

i gt a friend that had his license discretely. The day after he pass his license straight away buy bike from motordiam w/o parents knowing it. In the end parents sense that he's riding. Confronted and cold war for 1 mth + -_- After the one month, they started talking and everything goes as per normal. Afterall you're their son/daughter, thus no parent gonna disown someone they love. Talk it out.. best to let them know before taking ur license.

 

**or you can always be like a bike-paranoid at home. when you hear a bike zoom off your block,juz put your head out. Take your bolster and sit on it with a makeshift helmet. Blast motoGP videos on computer. Paste posters of Valentino Rossi on ur bedroom walls. Then your parents would notice what u really want and give it to you...LOLx

there are many cases of riders ride and died from accident without their parents consent to ride bikes, it will really break their heart and maybe affect them for life....

 

for me my parents didnt let me at first but den i promise them that id quit smoking and stop doing stupid things, then did they gave their consent..haha..but till now still havvent quit smoking hahaha...even worst she buys ciggarette for me sometimes hehehehe.

Then when it's raining, they usually will tell me not to ride. But just to ride safe. Just ride safely and enjoy the ride, all will be well..

when i had an accident 7 years ago, my parents were very worried but the shock wasn't too bad coz they knew i was riding.

7 years later, i return to riding and bought a bike without telling them, thinking if they don't know, they won't be worried

 

but i decided to tell them few weeks later... the shock could be too big for them if they know about my riding only after my i got into accident or when i leave for my next life

 

think twice and be kind to our parents
