LTA's reply on sports rim

Our Ref: LTA/CSV/F20.032.00021448/1

Date: 29-AUG-2007

Dear Sir/Madam,

MODIFICATION FOR LGVS

FEEDBACK NUMBER: 508774

Thank you for your enquiry of 27-AUG-2007.

2 We would like to inform you that all commercial vehicles are required to be fitted with standard rims and tyres that are rated by vehicle manufacturers for their safe operation, taking into consideration their usage, the maximum laden weight (MLW) and driving conditions etc. If the rims and tyres are not of the correct width, profile and diameter as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, vehicle performance may be affected and as a result, road safety could be compromised.

3 You may wish to note that we have since 1 October 2004 allowed retrofitting of after-market alloy rim on in-use light commercial vehicles with MLW of not more than 3,500 kg (e.g. vans, pickups, small buses and

lorries) so long as it does not adversely affect the safe operation of the vehicle. If you intend to install after-market alloy rims on to your existing vehicle, you are required to submit the following documents for our evaluation:

a) certificate from the product manufacturer stating that the alloy rims and tyres fitted on your vehicle (make and model) are of the correct width, profile and diameter as recommended by the vehicle manufacturers; and

b) evidence or test reports to show that the alloy rim meets one of the following internationally recognised safety standards:

i. the Japanese Technical Standards (JWL-T) for light alloy disc wheel for trucks and buses; or

ii. the Standards of the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO) for commercial vehicles.

You may forward the above documents to the Vehicle Engineering Division of LTA at 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701.

4 Please note that every vehicle fitted with after-market alloy rims are required to be produced for an inspection at any of the LTA-authorised vehicle inspection centres. The inspector will endorse the after-market alloy rims upon passing the inspection. Inspection centres will charge a fee for such a service.

5 Should you have further enquiries, please contact us at 1800 -CALL -LTA (2255 582).

Yours sincerely,

But I really like the foldable rear seats cos can put my bicycle inside, Vios got to use bike rack which can be really leychey. And sometimes need to carry good during work also, that's why considered tha van also. But then Mini me coming, dun think it's a good idea to put baby at the back of a van right.

Got mine on 19 Sep. Milage now is 315km

Top speed should be slightly above 110KPH for this 658cc.

I only test till 100KPH, Aircon is very powerful, Ride is stable even > 90 KPH.

Fuel consumption should be 16.8KM/L , Fuel tank is 40L

Driving and parking should be a breeze as the ride is fitted with power-steering. the van is easy to steer even at parking. THank to the LArge sde mirrors too.
