ask u ar....

total how much u did for ur slider n ur swingarm slider?

frame sliders at $90 including drilling and installation, done at k&t. prepare to leave your bike there for 2 hrs (for wkday at least, saturday i donno mebbe longer) for him to drill swee-swee. note also that the finished product is the slider thru the hole, no rubber 'cover' for the hole but they drilled the hole swee-swee so not much issue unless wanna be picky. if i remember, dat time buzz showed us his, his slider hole had a rubber cover? buzz or enjoy can u confirm this?

oh and u might wanna call beforehand to check if he got stock.

swingarm sliders at $40 bought at bt batok speedway, fix urself using allen key, very easy to do. look at ur swingarm, at the underportion of each side u should see a screw thread, thats where it goes, not the axle.

you mean the camel brand?

i've seen 'marlbora'. so just paint 'comel'........[/b]

Ya, cigarette brands are banned from any form of advertisements in singapore.

I have seen that marlbora before too, dunnoe issit the same bike though. I prefer getting the real thing than changing the word, defeats the purpose. But again, if i have the extra $, PC3 is definately higher on my list than a motoGP paintwork. :cheeky:

Nah, didn't see any when i took out the middle cowl. But the hole is nicely done up, so the space is actually quite negligable.

Mine is also a '04. Went to take a look at the rectifier on my bike and the picture on the service manual and it doesn't seems to be relocated. Not exactly sure though.

oh you see i think what happens is that for 03/04, to drill and fix the sliders the rectifier must first be moved aside coz it gets in the way; after installation then the rectifier is placed back where its supposed to be. for 05/06 model the rectifier is somewhere else, in a location that doesn get in the way when installing the slider.

Hi bro.

Do not need to relocate it either you

adjust the position a little bit or you

take out the whole thing cause it will block

your way as you need to tighten the nut.

Thanks

Hi,

I got no issue here, shark asked that question. Mine was already fitted when i bought it, so have not much idea. :cheeky:

yah wat superbike describes is spot on, the rectifier needs to be moved out of the way only during installation so enjoy u shdn be seeing any diff in the rectifier. its just that 05 model the rectifier not in the way at all.

u gotta admit, this R6's pipes make our stock ones look boring in comparison. but to see this bike next to a 600RR with those laser twin exhausts would be a very pretty picture.

thats 'wolf' brand pipes btw.

Well what do you know. Remember about a month plus ago and a few pages back, we were discussing about whether putting sliders on our bikes is better or worse coz Honda didn include ports for sliders so we need to drill?

well at about that time, i emailed Fast Bikes magazine asking the question. Today i bought October's issue and they actually published my letter, with a reply.

So for the benefit of all CBR600RR riders here, heres the letter and the reply.

To Bung, or not to bung

I"m the proud owner of a brand new '05 CBR600RR. The first thing I had wanted to do is install a pair of crash bungs. I realised that doing so necessitated drilling into the fairing, but I thought, better a little hole than a great big crack.

Then a friend said his mechanic advised him not to install the bungs because " the 'skeleton joints' are softer than the bungs, and would therefore be damaged by the bungs in a fall".

I have no idea what he's talking about, so I thought I'd ask you guys for a second opinion. My concern is, in the event of of a fall on my CBR600RR, would I experience a bigger heartache with or without crash bungs installed?

XXXXXXX XXXXX

Team Fast Bikes - There have certainly been cases in the past of certain types of crash bungs damaging certain bike frames in the event of a spill. Yamaha's Fazer Thou is one such model, apparently. However, having spoken to R&G who are crash protection experts, it appears that they've never had an issue with the baby Honda.

They supply bungs to many of the race teams running CBR600RRs in the British Supersport Championship, and those boys are partial to the odd crash, so you should be ok.

So there you go, we're fine to fix sliders, although unfortunately i've fitted motovation instead of R&G. Cant be that bad, and besides I wouldn know where to get R&G brand anyway.

Of coz the more cynical among you would claim that the mag is 'under the paycheck of R&G' and would of coz tell you to put R&G protectors in the guise of 'advice', but i've been buying each and every issue of this mag since '02 and my own personal belief is this mag does not play to any 'sponsor' coz it deliberately does not take in 'sponsors' so it wont have to. but you believe what you believe.

yup thats me :cheeky:

didn expect it at all. scanned thru the pages before reading page-to-page, came to the "Masterclass Technical" section and i was intrigued by the pic of the red/black 600RR with the badly scratched fairing, obviously from a bad lowside. then saw that it was for a letter about sliders for the 600RR, then saw my name. eyes popped out

i'll continue buying every issue then. after all, they bother about me more than our various gvt agencies. at least their reply isn the usual generic "thank you for writing yada yada yada"; they actually asked around and give me a proper reply.
