Hmmm... I dun think so leh... I ride for almost 1 yr already.... Still feels great... But that time i went HKL, change tyres and stuffs, the mech did somethin to my brakes.... Now feels even more good!!

I think that is oni the freeplay adjustment....

dats not the freeplay adjustment...dats to adjust the distance of braking lever. try put at 5. u will notice u brake hard yr lever almost touching yr throttle or may even touch......on track...consperm touch yr throttle. Put it to 1, try brake it will be further away from yr throttle. i use setting no 2 when on track....jus nice for hard braking and bleeping.

when riding aggresively at track, at least put to setting 2. dun use high setting or u will end up having yr brake like yr clutch when hard braking...:cheeky:

and i agree with crumbs....our bikes has one of the best braking system compared to any other....even stock is good enough....jus change yr brakeline and yr brakes are ready for track.....to me honda OEM brake pad is good. but now i am using EBC...:thumb:

Actually, there's no one right setting for everyone. everyone has their own preference. but essentially, its understood that the adjustment can't be too far out from the throttle. if it's too far out, you wont have much control over ur brakes and it will be difficult to blip the throttle when you downshift. For a rough guide, i think for normal road use, you shouldnt be using anything less than setting no. 4.

like syam, i also using EBC pads but with HEL steel braided lines. works for me!

anyway going track day this sunday syam?? ur bike looking very fierce now with race paint and all....post some pics to show us leh! :thumb:

brakes lousy on the cbr?? are you sure? these are one of the best standard brakes in the business...even at the track i find them immensely powerful. sure, the brakes fade on the track but which brake system doesn't after laps of hard braking? ur best bet is to change ur brake lines to steel braided ones and maybe ur pads...but if you're riding on the road, i seriously doubt the braking can deteriorate after just one month...much less feel like shi+!

hi mr_crumbs. i was e one riding e tri-colour cbr on wed at pg. yup i agree the brakes are damn good. especially on the roads. mayb like wad MSF67 said, my reach adjustment was put at 5 hence the lever touched the throttle when i hard-braked at turn 5 resulting in my ride to the gravels. I was on venhill hoses during the track session but stock pads.

MSF67, i'm definitely not fast. lol. it's my first time one the track with the cbr. just poor techniques i guess. i'm on stock tires still.. so i'm not pushing hard (maybe not before i went to the gravels :p ). will be there this sunday. guess i'll be seeing you there as well? :thumb:

u use 5?? no wonder lah....consperm touch yr throttle...yr brake become like yr clutch oredi liau...:cheeky: try use 3 at track.....den as u go harder....use 2.....experiment yrself and get the right setting for yrself. c u on sunday too yah!!!

u n crumbs went PG last wed ah??? WALAUWEY CRUMBS U NVR CHIO ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm... Less than 4? Which means 3,2,1?

Btw, can u explain wat does it mean by BLIP the throttle? :pity:

blip means when u drop gear, u whack yr throttle open simultaneously with clutch release...its a fast action....some sort like drop gear and whack throttle at the same time.....this is to get a smooth downshift especially useful if yr bike hav no slipper clutch....and also to maintain a high rpm whle entering the corner....dats wat they said...:cheeky: for me, its to get a smooth downshift....when u at high speed......say from 4th gear, u drop to 2nd gear into a corner...blipping will help u control yr bike better.

i'm not good at explainning.....XBOX got post the theory side about blipping...see if i can find it n repost here......niway, blipping normally done in the track....i dun tthink u need dat skill on the road....unless u road racer....hahahah.....:cheeky:

XBOX theory explanation on BLIPPING

You will have to be used to using the front brake with only one or two fingers in order to downshift this way. It is best to use your index and middle fingers to brake while keeping your ring and pinky fingers on the throttle.

After you begin braking, pull in the clutch and select the next gear like you would normally.

Here is the tricky part. Still holding the clutch in, use the palm of your hand and/or your ring and pinky fingers to rev the engine slightly.

Remember to keep braking smoothly with your index and middle fingers.

When the engine is revved up slightly, let the clutch back out to engage the next gear. The goal here is to match the revolutions of the engine to what they need to be to travel the same speed in the lower gear. This smooths the transition between gears and eliminates the need to slip the clutch quite as much.

If the bike jerks forward when you let the clutch out the engine was turning too fast. Don't rev it as much next time.

If the bike rapidly slows, the engine wasn't turning fast enough so you need to rev it more before releasing the clutch.

Repeat each time you shift down a gear. This technique is especially useful in the lower gears, which generally have a wider gap between gear ratios.

front is called fork slider....back is called axle slider...the other one at the back is the swingarm slider or namely the spool.

I fixed all types of sliders on my bike...:cheeky:

my cbr6 03 skidded before and damaged the rear wheel nut....which could be prevented if u fixed the axle slider. So, all these sliders can be useful.

And yah...if any of u guys hav an extra fork slider, left side....plz let me know...i wanna buy....some idiot stole mine.

wah yr gf said so ha???? dats not nice to hear man....to hav a gf who does not really support yr hobby...dats hard...well den..u hav to choose...letting go an 8year rltshp is hard man....coz u must hav love her so much...tiobo?? :cheeky: try convince her track riding is safe lah....bring her around the track for an orientation...:cheeky: but bring her to SEPANG...not PG....coz PG lack of safety compared to SEPANG ....

and about the blipping...if u r newbie to track....i suggest not to focus on blipping first. learn correct braking and lining...entering and exiting correct way at a corner....correct body posture....get all that at basic level at least..den go to blipping....coz if doin blipping when u only started to learn track riding, will cause haywire to yr braking and lining..:cheeky: dat happened to me...heheheh...niway if u're slow, no point u blip....hehe...so learn all the basics of track riding first...:thumb:
