It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

slipper clutch. not the only 600cc bike with this, granted.

fly-by-wire throttle.

independant high and low speed compression damping adjustment.

bike technology is going very quickly.

and it revs to 17,500 rpm.

actually...our current RR5 is "good" enough for the next 3~4years.

why leh? my "verison" of reason.

#1- inverted fork (this design was the "motorGP" dream back in 2000 leh)

#2- underseat exhuast - this design is much "cooler" then short, fat side exhaust.(still will melt ur boots or leg if u reverse-push ur bike)

#3- dbl-light unit (bikes always look nicer in twin headlamp to me)

#4- twin injector design (12 hole injector still not enough?)i recken the next twin injector could be 16 hole.

#5- FI (even cars are still at FI(EFI/MFI)

-------

as to the new items like;

#1- slipper clutch - nice to have but unless it a track bike.how many times does do u perform overREV drop gear?

#2- fly-by-wire throttle - nice to have but look at cars, how many has this function instead of the trustworthly throttle cable? not to mention the cost for repair/replacment if the unit were to fail & how "sensitive" throttle moment do we need to operate it on normal road condition?

#3- damping adjustment - sounds cool, ride it slow & the bike soak up the bumps, ride it hard & the bike firm up.reminds me of those aftermarket shock/spring(coilover) for cars which has two spring(1 soft short & 1 long hard).i'm sure aftermarket product will "come" if it shows fav amt riders.

#4- the more REV u can hit...the less torque u will have on the lower RPM range.it phyics.

actually i've always thought that bike tech has gone so high that new tech only small portion is used on the road.

but in 5 years time when fly-by-wire throttle, double damper setting and slipper clutch becomes de rigeur for 600cc sportsbikes, our bikes will look like old metal. emphasis: look like.

after all, a '98-'00 R1 and GSXR-1000K1/2 look like 1980's models when lined up against today's monsters. but they only look like it, they're still more than enough for anyone.

heck i rode a fren's '00 R1 and i doubted i'd ever hit the bike's limits, even on track. the carb is smooth, so who needs EFI. the bike on the move actually feels lighter than our 600RR, so wats the fuss with all the 10kg weight savings of today's bikes over the models 5 years ago. inverted forks? there was nothing wrong with the R1's conventional ones. and dun even bother asking for more out of the engine: imagine our CBR600RR engine, requiring less throttle input, and it enters the 'magic zone' of our bike's above 9k rpm way earlier at 4k rpm. that pretty much describes the '00 R1 engine.

on the bike, it doesn feel old, i cant imagine how much better a current R1 can be, or more importantly, why in the world i would need it to be better.

but when i dismount and look at the R1.... i look at my bike..... i realize i may not need the R1 to be newer or better or more trick, i just want it to be so. i'll keep my 600RR over the '00 R1. and that kind of sentiment just causes resale values to plummet.

from business point of view.

how to "sell" more product?

how to boost CO sales?

"touch up abit" & sell the old product as "New" model lor.(facelift in trade term)

it cycle of world la...we all get PAID at end of mth....so does others.

boss need to make profit b4 worker get paid.

Mfg need to come up new model to sell also mah.

truly agree...

most of us (including myself) tend to have this "newer must be better" kind of mentality...

human nature....wat to do?

technologies like fuel injection n fly by wire are probably older than my age...

up to now, i can hardly think of any significant changes for production bikes in the past few years...

the only things i have in mind are:

1st underseat exhaust on cbr6, the airbag sys on goldwing, and GPS sys on bmw...

and i decided to get this bike just simply bcox i like the underseat exhaust design concept...

im still waiting for a revolutionary change...

my own "bike-of-future" imagination:

- engine can only be started by using finger print

- fully GPS equipped

- weight below 100kg

- can choose either auto or manual gear, depending on my riding mood :D

The monsoon is here....rain all day long. :sian:

By looking at the rain for the past few days, there's a high possibility that it would rain on 18th which is the proposed track day. Rain set in daily in the afternoon or at least late afternoon, so be prepared. Am probably having my wisdom tooth ops, so can't join though i would love to (cos almost all 1st timer mah), next time ba!

so those of u who planned to go track on 18th need not take leave too early...

if the weather is still as bad by end of this week.... we may have to cancel the track plan...
