Hey guys, wanna check with you if it's normal that when riding during rainy days, that the areas under the handle bar will have smoke coming out from it?Especially when bike is stationary as I noticed rain water collected within, will flow down.

I'm just wondering if it's any forms of short circuits or cause by electrical faults,or its simply just rain water hiting the hot headers.

Hope anyone can help with this if you do experience it.THANKS! :D

Its called evaporation.

Rain water flowing down and getting into contact with the hot radiator and exhaust header will boil off as steam.. appearing as smoke to you.

It is normal. even after servicing your bike, if there is EO stains on the metal pipes which can be seen jus above the bottom of bike fairing, "smoke" will appear too.

It just depends on the attitude of the mechanic of the shop. The oil filter and sump drain nut sits between the engine and the header pipes.

When the filter is unscrewed... residual oil will start pouring out and onto the header pipes... coating the pipes. If not wiped off completely... the oil will smoke when the bike is started. The residual oil stains will carry on smoking and burn off till a layer of black carbon forms on the header pipes.

When I service my own CBR600RR, I will wrap the headers with foil first before I open the oil filter. In this way, there is very minimal staining of the headers and when done with the oil and filter change... I use contact / brake cleaner to spray off the residual oil stains after removing the foil. It may take a while longer to do the job but that's my way of doing things.

Anyway... every mechanic have their own individual standards of doing maintenance on the bike.

By the way Raptor, every time I service my bike at BS. They will replace one unit of washer which costs $1. I requested them to return me the faulty washer and indeed it is dented. But I dun understand why change EO or oil filter will dent the washer. Any idea about it.

Bro.. that is the crush or sealing washer from your oil drain plug. By the servicing manual... it is recommended to change out the sealing washer of the oil drain plug every time you drain the oil... but do note that the word used is 'recommended' and not mandatory.

That washer is normally made of aluminium or brass... it seals like a gasket when the engine drain bolt is tightened. Because it is a material that is softer than the engine casing or the bolt.. it gets crushed to become a 'form in place gasket'.

If the sealing washer is not there.. oil will seep from the sump through the threads of the drain bolt and drip out. When there is evidence of oil wetting at the drain bolt even before it is opened... its time to replace the sealing washer.

By the way.. I have aftermarket magnetic drain bolts for the CBR600RR... super strong magnet that traps metallic particles from circulating round the engine with the engine oil. One of the best protection you can give to your bike.

Anyone free for track on 30octcfro track!!!

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?
