i trailed with an XR4 before ... the weight is manageable ... i trailed on a KTM SuperComp also ... the weight is manageable ... i trailed on a KTM400EXC and i definitely :lovestruck: the weight .... but eversince riding a lightweight bike ... i now feel that the bike seems heavy ... so its actually a matter of getting use to the weight ... regular trails on what ever that you are riding can improve your strength and skills ... dont worry to much abt the initial weight of the bikes ...

reliability is a debateable issue but the XR4 is definitely an easier bike to maintain ... :thumb:

hello guys.. need advice & tips. xr4 or ktm4 is reliable & better.. ? in term of maintenance & fuel consumption. mainly for rd use & off rd occasionally.. :help:

maintenance and fuel consumption: xr4

rd use: xr4

reliability: see ur luck unless its first hand. but parts defo cheaper for xr4

off rd: ktm4 - lighter and handling seems better. but weight is all a matter of getting used to. once u gotten used to its weight, then no problem.

Honda XR4

Its old, air-cooled engine design and requires very min. maintanance, like say, engine oil change every month and its damn reliable machine ever builded I might say.Bring it to any terrain, long distances be sure you can sleep at night in ur bed, even the US army used it. But once you broke her heart (engine), its like stabbing your heart with a golden knife. XR requires lesses replacement of engine part as compared to a KTM4,which like the con-rod, dont know how many KMs need to change.

Fuel consumption, I dont ride a KTM4, so cant help...for XR pretty good for a scambler, I have been riding up and down chinatown from somewhere in the east, its cost me around 20+ a week for the past 3 weeks..I dont have a meter so cant tell you the total mileage..

:cheeky:

For sure, XR4 weights like a tank but with a Aloop kit and high bend handler bar, it handlers pretty good for me, when I rode it out for a trail for the first time, I really had a hard time coping with it but eventually, I make it at the end of the day and loved it since then because I am able to ride back to bed everytime...:cheeky: furthermore, it has a smooth power delivery (your ass feels better on road), good low to mid power. You dont go that fast as compared on track, dont you? XR4 is builded for trails and for western, for asian like us may abit diffcult to cope lah so its up to the rider.

At the end of the day, its up to individuals to decide the COLOUR of their choice, every bike has their advantages and disadvantages and its him/her to cope with them. Furthermore, its the owner's purposes, if he is a hard-core rider, get a KTM4, weekend trails, enduros, get a XR4..daily useage on the road, XR4 is better
