I think the biggest change is touring style. Malaysia must be the last country in the world where one can ride sportbikes properly, we're so lucky!

Imagine cruising along at 110km/h cross interstate distances, no faster! I don't know if I can handle it.

i tink down there probably an enduro will be best.

long range and `cannot go fast` and over most terrain will be most suitable.

i tink i saw some BMW owers who went down got quite a deal with the new GS there.. something like SGD 20+ k for the GS 1200 ADV if i`m not wrong..

u know how overpriced it is in SG you know..

i tink my discs still can use..

just tt maybe i`ll need to look out for parts soon..

am thinking of making a trip to KL to look for part, accessories.

saw tons of GTRs and ZX 14 up there..

i`m sure they have some specialist shop supporting these bikes..

anyone know where these msia bikers frequent?

i`m sure it`s near KL/ipoh as i always see them there..

Be sure you to get the right part. Best is to give them you chasis and engine number to confirm.

Hmmmm.....NSH is a pretty much do what u want where u want hwy.

all u need is a little extra RM in the backpocket.

strangely, the first gtr I saw was in early '08 at Byron Bay.

i usually head interstate between VIC, NSW or QLD after midnight.

by the time u get out of the outer suburbs and hit pacific hwy, it will be an hr later or so. by 2am most pigs cannot be bothered to sit by the hwy to catch u. even the 16 wheelers are not doing 110.

but there was this once at 4am, a group of us past a copper at over double the limit. his disco lights immediately came on we just a ran for it.

at 110, for a 1200km journey, it just seems painfully slow.

imagine riding from Sin to north of Hatyai never exceeding 110?!?! :dozed::dozed:

remember to check out salamander bay for the sun dunes.

heaps of dirt bikes head there for the 16km of endless dunes, some up to 4 stories high. it was the location where the original star wars was filmed, the one with luke and R2D2 in the "desert"

most imptly, have fun, ride safe :thumb:

i have the seat for sale, completely brand new, never used, if the new owner doesnt want it, u can have it for half the price.

there may be no need to go to Klang for original Kawa parts as there is now an outlet at JB.

in regards to the discs, JB Kawa is cheaper than Nevershine in Spore but still more expensive than aftermkt Galfer. Go Figure.

the GS is a good idea. esp. with the ability to run at lower RONs.

from what i last checked for 2010 models, the GS is AUD$21,925 that includes chrome exhaust, heated grips, hand guards, ecu , pannier adapters and LED indicators. translates to about SGD$28k

the GSA is AUD$26,950, SGD$34.5k, ESA, ABS, ASC all optional.

But still, 10k less than in Spore.

in comparison, not a bad deal dont u think?

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

Does anybody has the co-ordinate of the JB shop. I may need to order some spares soon. If not I'll just order overseas.

i should have but the gps is not with me now. What kind of parts do you want to order? perhaps we can go together. If you are going to order from overseas, we can share shipping cost too.

I am planning to get from http://www.bikebandit.com. They don shipped to Singapore directly but i have vpost USA account. I can get them to ship there.

CMYRS > I think speed limits in Australia is not something to try the luck with! Daily commuting is out of the question, as speed limits in urban areas are 50,60km/h.

Happily, theres a Frasers Hill equivalent right in my backyard. I'm excited as to what kinda weapon I'm gonna get!

ehhh....Performance is definitely there. But it has to depends on the size of your appetite too. If you are the sports bike type of person, GTR definitely not for you.

Posted
well..basically not that sport type kinda performance though...wondering so called "touring" kinda performance..

cheers!

Lets deal with the cons first. Because one has to overcome them before being able to enjoy the bike to the fullest.

The first thing you have to overcome GTR is the Weight. With panneirs and petrol filled, the weight stands around 320kg. As the bike is big, long and wide. Come to bad traffic jam, you are screwed. Going to popular places like east coast park during peak hours will fly your crotch and bike

The second thing you have to overcome GTR is the lack of reverse gear. Unless you have the skill of the motordiam mechanics who handle the all types of bike skillfully. You have a hard time reversing the bike on both feet. Things can get worse if you are short.

The third thing you have to overcome GTR is the heat. I do not know much of other types as my friends always complained that their R1 is hot. Harley davidson also. Some tell me that all 1000cc and above have similar heat issue. As i have not rode other 1000cc and above bikes, i cannot comment on it. As for GTR, perspiring and wet t-shirt is just so common for me.

Finally its the Kawasaki Agent. (N)Ever shine sucks. Period. Check around with the rest of the kawasakian, they will say the same thing. Unfortunately he is the only agent around. Be prepare to burn holes in your wallet if you need to buy alof of parts for servicing.

Now Lets get on to the pros.

GTR is classifying under supersports touring by kawasaki. Its touring capabilities is awesome. Maintaining at highspeed such as 200km/h and above is not AN ISSUE AT ALL. Its just built to GO GO GO. The ridee is YES YES YES. The max speed i have done is 280km/h. But only for a short while. I tell you why later.

Super sports - i feel the bike has a very good mid to high range power. GTR has 6 gears (1, N, 2, 3, 4, 5, Overdrive) You can feel the power comes in immediately at gear 4 and 5. Coming back to my 280km/h. Last feb, i went cameron highland with my friend. Along came a malaysia plate maserati behind, he drove past us and i decided to chase it for the fun of it. I am able to keep in pace with the maserati. Both of us going at min of 250km/h. At the long stretch of road, i did 280km/h and overtook him. However he went faster and overtook me back. Enough playing, i dropped my speed and go slow.

The power of GTR stands in league to the performance built machine and not compromising riding comfort. Only high performance built cars like Ferrari, Porshe can makan it. The rest of the cars........smells our dust.

Of course you have to overcome the CONS issue first.

hahahah..sorry for the long post

Well said...and thank u for typing in the info..i guess the cons still there huh? i've rode the kasawaki zx model few years back and found out that the performance is good and compare to now...the performance i guess is still there however the cons too!! still but at a high price and when time to let go...hahha....its kinda a no value if to compare wit other brands of bikes.

herm...i guess got to look at the cons first like what u mentioned..hee...its damn heavy too!

well i guess got too look at other alternative for a sports touring bike...perhaps FJR...what say u??
