Hi all,

I am embarking on my parts buying for my DR 750. May be tedious but I will get there.

Locally, Guan Hoe does not carry any more spares for the 80s DRs. So online I will go. Will keep you guys updated on how it goes. Wish me luck!

So I start on the journey to get my DR fired up.

Kinks many... but wanting the bike to hit the roads.... HELLYA.

came across some pretty gd links which I think you guys should know if you want to embark on an old iron like this.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15 - gd start point for guys who wanna know more on offroading... :)

http://www.drbig.info/forum/viewforum.php?f=6 - another site for forum updates on DRs

http://www.hessler-motorsport.de/ - must go for DR boys to get stuff from. its like Tiffany / Chanel to girls. This is da bomb. Stefan is way responsive and have to give him full marks for replying on a wkend;)

So I started with gaskets which I have ordered. Now is for workshop to open up and see what else is needed. Will update once gaskets are in and what ever happens on Monday.

Here We Go!!!

Updates

Bike shop - Piston block, piston, piston rings, timing chain, timing chain guard - Get those and you are on your way... ZZZZZZZ I just see a big hole in my pocket.

So my major headache is the block. will try to see if I can get hold of sth. DR-PistonBlock-small.jpg

Gotta keep it going;)

Decision made after having a chat with shop and Stefan. Re-bore the block. Stefan has a bigger piston. Purchased. now the wait.

Goat Xi Fa Cai to one and all :) Wishing you a Blessed and Prosperous Year ahead!

Seems like the local bike scene is fast moving and fast changing. Seeing more guys/gals pimping their rides to look old skool. With the emergence of Vicious Cycles (amongst many others) the old school look sure is back! Even the Hondas and Ducatis are bringing back to old school look bikes. Take for example Ducati's Scrambler - http://scramblerducati.com/en, Honda's CB1100 - http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/02/05/2014-honda-cb1100-deluxe-first-look-review-photos/ we know for a fact that there is a resurgence for things old. There sure is a lot of pent up demand for old school. People dig the looks of yesteryears classic simple designs. Coupled with improved technologies, bikes today are safer and easier to ride. I for one love things old especially having a carb bike (cough cough) and I do hope that this trend would continue. Continue for the younger generation to throwback how we see our world. Continue to embrace what was the past to complete our future. my only take away for the day.... find some old iron... bring them back to life:) Its fun:)

Good read for an old iron - http://www.adventure52.com/adventure-motorcycles/retro-adventure-motorcycles/

Have a good wkend guys :)
