Brake problem

hi guys, i'm riding a 125z with stock footrests,

 

my problem is that the footbrake lever is getting stiffer and now when i brake it will get stuck and have to pull it up(like gear changing) anyone can help me diagnose the problem?

 

the handbrake also got problem, the lever is kinda lose and it is position such that my 3rd light is always on but no braking, though it doesnt affect the front brake, leaving the brake light on during the whole journey will affect my batt. anyone can help?

Time to service the brake pumps. Go to a mech, have him strip the pump and clean it inside. Prob some sludge. Asap better. It can be dangerous if in an emergency you jam the brakes and it locks. You won't have the time to kick it up like gear changing.

 

Last time this problem happened to me, the rear brake lock down fully after i came to stop at traffic light junction. Next thing i knew, i couldn't move off when the lights went green. Rear brake fully locked liao. Couldn't even move the bike to the side, if not for my friend's help. This problem shouldn't cost anything more than 30 or 40 bucks i think, unless you change brake pads as well.

 

Regarding the brake light always on, I wouldn't be as concerned about the batt draining as much as the safety issue. If its constantly on while you're on the expressway, people will no longer know when you're actually braking. It confuses rear vehicles, and tailgators are the last ones you want to confuse in an emergency. It could be due to the brake lever being too far in, which you can ask a mech to help you adjust it outwards more if you do not know how. Or your brake lever could be too sensitive. Either way appraoch a mech. Possubly free of charge.

Juz like wats being quote by Pplater, it might b due to faulty brake pump or stuck piston on d brake mechanism which cause it to jam. Have it chk by d mech n ask them to service ur brake pump set.

might have to replace ur brake pump set-expensive. for ur brake lever switch light, have it adjusted if possible by the mech.

hey guys. only changed the spring and the washers and got the pump casing cleaned.all at $45. works fine now..thanks

Bro, what do you mean by stock footrest? Is't racing footrest? Cos normally racing footrest wlii effect the brake footrest as the spring is not compatible. You need to do some modification to the spring that pull back your brake footrest when you press it. If the standard footrest got stuck as you mention you need to pull it up, 1st thing you check rear brake connector which connect to your brake footrest.Try to lubricate it. Sometimes it gets a little rusty and coz it to stuck. 2nd thing you check if the spring still got tension or not coz it might be loose as not as tension as before due to wear and tear.If really got problem, refer to workshop. Don spend unnessarry money. Do a self check first. Try.........
