Not sure where to post it, but:

I'm new on this forum (and pretty new in S'pore): need to find some wheels.

Have been driving heavy bikes for about 25 years now, > 800.000 km or so, the last 10 years I'm more or less specialized to Kawa's ZZR1100. Have 2 of them running, about 3 in spares, but all at the other side of the planet. My latest version is LPG powered, including supercharger (didn't want to take this one into Singapore...)

Anyway, to the point:

- where to buy a simple say 600 cc 4-stroke off-road, (low budget!) Will put street tires under them...good enough for the time being.

- how big are my chances to get a full driver license...

Thanks, happy to have found some 2-wheel support around here.

firstly i think u should concentrate on converting that overseas license of yours to our equivalent of a class 2 ( 400CC and above ) ....after that getting a motard should not be a big problem but a 600cc motard i have not seen b4

You can contact the staff for more details.

Refer to http://www.ssdcl.com.sg/

Regarding buying bikes, check out the Garage Sales Section in this forum or go to the more established bike shops.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Hey, thanks for all fast replies:P

I'm Dutch, did all my time on bikes in Europe...I was looking more something simple, like a XL500/600, KLR650, that kind of stuff, but they seem to be pretty rare around here. Africa twin would be nice, but above budget for the time being...

About license conversion: as I understand: they don't give full driver licenses to foreigners, but I don't know how strict they are in the rules.

I have been driving around on 4 wheels now for half a year; I'm getting the creeps, really need to get a bike. NOW:P

I had a look around at Seragoon road already: not a lot of choice  But I will check out all tips:thumb:

XL500 is definitely non existence here, there are probably just a few running XL600 and KLR650 was never here.

XR600 or XR650 are still available.

Cheapest big traillie available here has to be the DR650. For such bike, you can also check out here :

Demon: Thanks

In fact it is the 2nd version, did already 300.000 km with version 1, on a NA ZZR 1100. You get creative when the gasoline prices are double, compared to here....

Anyway: version 2. Was running fine when I left to here, up to the point of finetuning under max. power (bout 225 HP to start with). Designed and built it all myself (being a mech. engineer..). Supercharger from a Mercedes "Kompressor"

As you can see: WBO2 to tune...Used 3D FEM to design the stuff...

I had to leave just after finishing it for 99%

Mmm, pics don't work, try this...

I just coverted my Uk license and got a class 2.

Had to do the BTT and they looked at my UK license, the lady at the police window saw it was unlimited and that I have held it for 16 years and asked what cc i wanted , I said unlimited and hey presto a full class 2 license.

My work mate did exacty the same.

Get the BTT done as soon as possible.

Had a XR500 and used to race on the beaches. I realized that that e-starter of a XL is worth it's weight in gold, once you get stuck in the sand, trying to start the *****.

Temperatures here are high enough to turn me from solid into liquid here....XL would have been....a what the hell...XR!

Or SM...damned nice looking bike...biggest minus around here is that I had to give up my workshop

your Frankenstein machine will never see daylight on Singapore roads. Did you also have to convert it to fuel injection too ?

Didn't Discovery Channel approach you to do a feature on your bike ? it definitely deserve some coverage.

Hope you get your wheels soon.

Mmm, GSX600R K4....that's close to home again...budgets are always flexible of course. What are you thinking about?

Demon: naahh, I figured they would throw me in jail and throw away the keys for at least 10 years. Did some research on the transport regulations of LPG around here. And, realizing I build it all myself (that means not certified). Don't want to mess around with local authorities on Singapore.

Fuel injection: this one solely runs on LPG (my old one ran on gasoline and LPG). So: no LPG fuel injection on this one, this is a conventional LPG system with vaporizer. Mechanical fuel rate control, nothing electronic (yet). HadLPG fuel injection on my car (Alfa 156), but to get it tuned and having access to the controlling computer is just too complicated.

I need waterinjection on a longer term though. But first I need to get the basis tuned. And, need to be back at home, so it can take a little while.

Promised my mates to be back at the Dutch Grand Prix, Assen in 2010....
