Good share for the video bro. I'm sure the figures will draw a lot of flakes. But it will be interesting to know whether indeed its useful for commuter riding to spend so much more for an item which possibly might do more harm than good...

Uni is foam type right? I'm considering just going with the Oem type for my filter change... If it's actually dirty... Sg still quite clean... No haze for now hehe

Personally I tried on my previous car. What I did was install a vacuum meter (u know lar, 1st car, like to put meter to have that 'cool' factor ; p ).

Comparing Stock air filter which provide the best dirt/dust/etc filtering, the vacuum reads lower pressure. (lower pressure -ve values)

Then I tried Apexi Open Pod (paper base air-filter), I don't know how well they filter the dust, but every 10K km, servicing, using air-gun, it does blow away a good amount of dust collected on the surface. As for the vacuum reading, comparing to the stock filter, (not as low -ve values)

Finally I tested Hurricane Open Pod, full Stainless Steel filter, for sure it collect least amount of dust (during the 10K km servicing, using air-gun, doesn't trap as much dust as compare to Apexi). As for the Vacuum meter reading, comparing 3, its reading is the best, meaning less vacuum, air flow in faster comparing to Apexi and finally Stock.

So personally I believe in after market air-filter. ; )

Just my personal sharing.

Just pass my 2B. Have yet to get my own bike. I believe I will too change the filter when I eventually have my own bike ; )

Yes but the cleaners and oiler are expensive.

This brand is popular with dirtbikes.

Ive rode 50 000km with it and perhaps serviced it 3 times.

I diy a K&N air filter onto my bike using the old filter. Just remove the paper, put in K&N, and seal the sides. Cleaner and oiler around 20 plus for a set.

One thing I like is because it can use for very long, and is reusable. One time investment.

something interesting i came across since informed by Hydher the cleaners are expensive.... uniflow australia recommends and preferred using mineral turpentine(turps) or generally known as paint thinner or turpentine and completely unnecessary to wash with soap and water...just pad with absorbent cloth ....if not the alternative is to use unifilter foam filter cleaner..

so far the cheapest i can find for unifilter foam aerosol can 5.5oz is 24 usd and unifilter filter oil liquid 16oz is 24usd from gaybay both inclusive of shipping.

or alternatively use Castrol or Belray brand filter oil as quoted by uniflow.com.au

Just checking with uniflo users...is the price range around the above?..cheers

Just curious about the full stainless steel one having lesser dust and more airflow. Doesn't that equate to more dust going through the filter along with more air? And also does it mean more air is better? Shouldn't there be an optimal fuel/air mix? might cause a mis firing system :) which is cool at times... hehehe i got a phantom doing that a couple of times in front of me... quite cool... not sure whether its suppose to do that but the guy in front was totally nonchalant... so i think its tuned that way...

Yes, I believe more dust when into the engine, which ends up I think it will be more dirty. But at that point in time, I have plans to go for port & polish at a later stage, which will remove the top part and will have the chance to clean-up the internal. (but sadly it didn't happen as I sold the car).

Generally for most of the cars, the stock tune are slightly rich on the A/F mixture, which causes incomplete combustion (with some fuel being wasted), hence more air will be good. Generally after changing intake & output (to smooth out both flow), will go for tuning. (I uses SAFC2 to tune my A/F ratio). to further lean the A/F mixture. So far never experience any mis-firing.

I use pj1 air filter cleaner and gear oil today.

Pj1 can get from chong aik. Much cheaper than gaybay lah.

Wow.. feels much better than using the foam filter oil from pj1. Too sticky? too much?

if one is not going for competition, a normal air filter will do

an additional 1 or 2 HP doesn't really matter in SG roads, especially so if ur bike has already more than 50HP

I tried a performance air filter with everything else stock. It made my bike go faster when I need the speed. I also realized it drain the petrol faster as well.
