Hi,

i just received my first inspection letter from LTA today...

 

is stated that my vehicle need to be inspected by 26 july 07...

 

so that mean i can go now?

 

but how long can the inspection cert valid?

 

can i renew my insurance now after i go for my inspection?

 

cos if i not wrong i need to renew my insurance b4 i can renew my road tax...

 

lastly which Inspection center is "relax" one?

 

and how much is the inspection? if i kana anything fail and need to go back.. mean i need to pay again?

yesh you can go anytime before the stated date.

it valid for 3 months from the day of inspection

cos if i not wrong i need to renew my insurance b4 i can renew my road tax...

this i not too sure but from what i know, you can renew both ur insureance and road tax at the same time. unlest your road tax expire before your insureance, but you can extand you road tax close to you insureance expire date (eg. 2months)

 

lastly which Inspection center is "relax" one?

you can chose 1 thatz close to your area, i when to yishun's and i pasted my horn(Loud) and S4 head light

 

and how much is the inspection? if i kana anything fail and need to go back.. mean i need to pay again?

if I'm not wrong , you have to pay again if you fail and go for re-inspection

I've installed a pair of stebel magnum electric horns as well... recently went for inspection, when the guy press my horn he got a shock and said "AIR HORN AH?!?!"... but when he realised that its electric horn, he was fine with it...

 

BTW, our spotlights will be noted down during the inspection under the remarks "additional lamps". I was able to pass the inspection, but if it were a stricter guy, he might just fail me... so I think you should find something to cover the spotlights up or just remove them for the time being to be on the safe side...

Btw, your insurance must last till the day your renewed road tax ends. Example, if you extend your road tax for 6 months till 26 january 08, your insurance must last till 26 january 08.

 

I believe Vicom is an agent for NTUC insurance. So if youre under NTUC they might be able to extend it for you there, but if youre covered by Mitsui, u gotta extend it at the Mitsui agent, HQ, or through bike shop first before extending your road tax.

bro, road tax expire doesn;t mean need to go for inspection.. you received any letter from LTA saying that you need to go for inspection? cos i think you just brought your bike only right?

 

cos some buy half a year road tax and letter come is to renew for another 6 month...

 

anyway swirlacer and i live very near and we planing to go next sat... 12 may to either AMK JIC or Vicom Sin Ming..

 

so if you confirm also going for inspection and dun mind coming down to either bishan or amk you just PM me...

does anyone know.. after i gone thru my inspection.. when will i or how will i be able to renew road tax?

 

cos i heard from my friend that you can renew stright but then i haven;t renew insurance..

 

so any idea? is it that they will send to me? once i gone thru the inspection?

if they have sent u road tax renew letter, u can renew on the spot provided your insurance covers u sufficiently. e.g if u wanna renew $40, make sure ur insurance has not expired by then.

The criteria to renew road tax is that:

1) Gone thru inspection

2) Renewed insurance

 

You can renew on the spot aft inspection provided you meet the 2 criteria above

But i went to inspection today without renew my insurance.. cos it still got a month to renew my insurance.. so when will they still send me the road tax letter? and is it then i bring down my new insurance and the inspection letter to renew my road tax

renewing of road tx can be done at ntuc income branches, so no need go down to vehicle center

Got my road tax done just one day before the date of expiry at an AXS machine.

if roadtax is renew using AXS machine.. then how we going to display the new roadtax?

 

cos i know if you go to Singpost.. then will like strike off the other date and sign on it proved that is valid.. but AXS?

If you renew via AXS machine, LTA will send you a letter containing a new road tax "coupon", aka validated road tax disk with the new date already printed on it.

 

Renewing via AXS is also the only option for ppl who have lost their original road tax extension letter.

 

Trust me, renewing via AXS is safe and convienient.

Testing procedure

1) Headlight - BulletShape with normal bulb - Pass

2) Front Brake - Pass

3) Rear Brake - tried 2 times and pass,

1st tiem, the ABS kick in and wheel slip over the roller.

2nd time, step on the break before the inspector asked me to..

5) Allignment - Pass

6) Horn - Stebel Magnum- "Pon Pon" Twice!!...Pass

7) Visual Check - Mudguard - Pass

8) Visual Check - Numberplate - Pass

9) Numberplate Light - Pass

10) Exhaust - Stock - Pass

11) Seat - Pass

 

the guy is so friendly and asked me how much i get this phantom.. and i told him to check SBF - PK's sticky...
