Hi bros, i have a question.. Is the headlight mounting bracket for our bikes easily available? i need a new bracket and headlight assembly as mine was warped/damaged in a minor mishap.

Yup.. just go get 2nd hand headlight.. i lazy to go round singapore to source for a cheap 2nd hand. so just head down to planet and paid $20 for it.. heard it's overprice thou....

 

But most likly save a few bucks only...

 

check with you. U still got your plastic reflector of your headlight or it's damage also? i just sourceing for the plastic reflector ;D

haha, i've bought a new headlight and bracket from planet already, $28...fixed it up the same night. unfortunately my old reflector piece is cracked and broken as well. its unuseable.. i did salvage the bulb socket and connector though.. lol, our headight bulb is rated at 30watts, ive a friend who ran a 40 watt halogen bulb and felt a noticeable decrease in engine performance, for some reason.

Just wondering how to take care of cam chain tensioner ? What is the normal life span of it and what is it's function? Try to google the function but cannot find anything useful.

it's in the engine. wear and tear stuff....

chain tensioner helps to basically hold ur engine together... normally, ppl change tensioner when they hear a really loud tiak tiak sound when they start the bike in the morning... meaning, u hear the sound during cold start... if ur chain tensioner fails, usually ur engine also gone... so good to change when necessary... and i think it can actually last quite long... if u not sure, go on down to planet and get ah chong's advice...

hi guys, don't intend to hijack yr community but I wanna ask where can I install crash bars for my Honda rebel? my mechanic said he doesn't have any that is compatible for my bike. he has a tiny one for phantom which we both agree might as well not put it because it definitely will not provide the necessary protection if my bike topples.

what kind of retuning you referring to??? nothing to be paraniod of so long the mechanic dont touch the air and fuel "timing". in fact you can DIY yourself provided you have compressed air to assit to "blow" out all unwanted subtances in your carburetor.

 

somehow I feel that the prices mentioned in this thread for those motorshops are overcharging for the servicing of only one (1) carburetor. normally, motorshops charged for the servicing of carburetor depending the build of your bikes, i.e., the access work to remove carburetor, example, removing side fairing, fuel tanks, etc, etc.....for phantom, I would pay for not more than $15, excluding overhauling the carburetor.

you cannot take care of the chain tensioner, it is a wear and tear part.

 

fyi, chain tensioner is a mechanism part in the engine to "tension" the chain from the cam valves and the gear, hence you need to monitor the engine. so long you hear any unexpected noise coming from your engine, please go to the nearest motorshop for advice, otherwise you will face the heavier price for overhauling of your baby, which we do not like to see it happen.
