for one thing that I'm very sure... is that ah boy's honda air filters aren't authentic... even though they might be packed like one

but for cosmetic parts, by all means... why not? :cheeky:

even the knn air filter that i am using isnt a perfect fit just like ah boys one :dozed:

oh ya, heard that their air filter sometime cant fit properly... :)

So right on that. But for $10 im not complaining. :thumb:

please refer to the following post...

givi e21 (2x) + brackets (2x) + installation = $180 from none other than ah boy! of course all brand new... and can be cheaper if you spend enough time haggling the price... :cheeky:

although I do not know of any other shops with givi boxes in jalan besar area... the next place that I know of is cyclenet / mah motors who are the offical dealers for givi boxes...

i see. sounds pretty reasonable for a new set. but i just heard that putting sideboxes will damage the suspension in the long term?

and what about raincoats? the top and pants? do they have it at motoworld or ah boy? any good recommendations. im looking for a male and female set. not too expensive kind.

sideboxes and their brackets weight maybe about 5kg. your beloved pillion weight at least 40kg. unfortunately, your pillion is thus dealing at least 8 times more damage to your suspension than the sideboxes :cheeky:

ah boy: cheap but not necessary lasting

motoworld: expensive but better quality

I myself is using rs taichi drymaster from motoworld. great quality... and it is really tough... but you will have to take good care of it to keep it waterproof...

well... since you are on a little budget... get a set of quality raincoat and a set of cheap raincoat... when you are riding solo, you can wear the better quality raincoat, but when riding with pillion, you can wear the cheaper set and let your pillion wear the better set... however that it assuming you two are of similiar size...

With all due respect, that is absolute rubbish. Unless you are planning to carry bricks in those sideboxes.

i am using the OGK FF4 raincoat plus some other rain pant that is more flexible than the OGK pants. i bought it at 60+ i think. pretty good investment.

anyway. we are side tracking. why not discuss @ Chit chat corner?

I saw this on their website too. Was thinking of going down to take a look. What do you mean by having to take good care to keep it waterproof? Arent all raincoats supposed to be waterproof and stay that way?

as for the sidebox issue, thanks to BlackDawn and ViDaK for clearing up my doubts. I will consider my options, as it is between the boxes or getting a new bag, to put all my barang when riding.

my name is VidaK... not ViDaK... :weep:

raincoats will tear if you do not fold and keep it properly... some people might try to stuff their raingear into whatever tiny place they could find... but ultimately thats just going to damage the raingear sooner or later...

then there is the issue of how to wear the raingear properly... some might just hop onto their bikes without pulling the rain pants up first... thus tearing the pants at the vortex seam... resulting in water leakage that give the rider the "pee'ed your pants" effect... etc etc...

maintaining your raingear, unfortunately, is a difficult art.

I would vote for givi "the standard" e21 for a start

Sorry VidaK. I see. I am thinking of going down to motoworld to check out the rs-taichi rainbuster and drymaster tmr. Expensive, but good quality i guess. And I will listen to your advice of keeping and wearing it properly to prolong the lifespan. Thanks!

lol... the pains of diy spray painting...

there is only one way to go about this... you have to strip the paint off and respray them...

when you are spraying them again, spray thin, light coats, and wait maybe 3 mins in between each coat... and avoid spraying on rainy days...

don't give up!
