you can have a look at the following post...

try doing this without a pillion.

fly over a hump... your rear shocks would be compressed...

scenario 1: you return to normal riding height in a single motion - rear shocks ok :box:

scenario 2: you bounce up and down... up and down... boing boing boing... fail... your rear shocks need servicing... :giddy:

although I should mention that there shouldn't be anything such as a "rebound" sound... how does it sound like... does it sound like a mouse when you squeeze it...?

although the oil damper might be spoilt... the spring is still there... so of course it would rebound, but it just means that the suspension is very soft now... so don't try to lean low at high speeds... slightly uneven ground can cause a lowside with suspension being too soft...

ride safe

check by pushing bike down hard and see it bounce...if it resonates or do a simple harmonic motion...its time to change,...if not your bike is going to float like butterfly every time u corner or hit a pothole...i am certain it will be more than sting like a bee when it goes down:faint:

damn. rear shock service will be expensive. ah chong ask me change new one. lol

so far havent heard of servicing suspension....most porbably it is a con by manufacturer by designing it not serviceable.

no choice..it is safety issue...this one just like brakes...u may end up regretting if u dont do it fast..

let me tell you a story about bouncing car...

didnt realise that the damper fluid is gone....

one day while trying to avoid a puddle of water...the car did a 360 degrees turn...

scare the sh it out of me..later then realise the front supension is gone...

the suspension was change just a month ago...went back to the workshop..the boss chnage it without charge...says he calim it back from the distributor..

u see..garages guarantee their work...doctors dont., so go to garages which guarantee their work..if not be prepared to be treated like long term patients.

yeah.. something like a mouse, a compressed sound..

when going through hump it will return with one bounce..

means good?

your suspension is ok... you just need to lube the moving parts, such as chassis - swingarm joint, and the two end joints of the rear shock

reach back my place.. CRACK like crazy..

all plastic material deteoriates with time..albeit takes along time to disintergrate.

but with the effect of UV...this effect is accelerated.

i think most plastic placed under the open environment..eg oldbike tyres can explode while riding...this is the result of the rubber properties broke down due to effect of UV. The tyres loaded and a running at higher speed can result in bursting of the tyre .

this could be the reason for the cracked fender...the scenerio maybe is like this...the bike is parked at open carpark all the time..

the owner takes good care of it by cleaning it with all sorts soaps, detergents and occasionally use petrol to clean off stubborn road grime. sometimes spillage of acidic liquid..like coca cola, lime juices ...etc on to the fender. regularly he tightens the bolts and nuts that hold the fender to the bike..being ks he over tighten it...

he bike has been involved in an accident...the fender took the brunt of it..micro cracks developed which the eyes cannot see.

one day due to time and UV and all other conditions that affect the fender intergrity..

the fender just cracked up while riding---- the vibration of the bike finally put it to rest.:faint: IMHO.

hahha as usual just BS.

oh well... a pinch on your wallet... but I guess there isn't much that you can do about this...

although whenever the phantom has recovered from whatever problem, it feels great to ride it again... don't you think?
