Hie guys.

Saw on papers recently tht Kia is giving away Free Petrol ($3600), Parking&ERP($1000) free insurance n rd tax for the 1st.

I haven't own a car before. But this offer sounds attractive enough to me. Only reason i m not considering is as i intended to get a smaller car instead.

I understand everyone wld have their own perference of their choice of car based on QC, consumption/mainteinence, resale value and many others. So i would like to see for wat reasons wld u or not go for this offer?

Btw frm kia website i got to understand tht interest rate is 3.25% for up to 6 yrs n 3.5% up to 10yrs is tht on the higher side for cars?

In the decision process, you should first consider the car itself, ie. brand, model, price ...etc. Basically you must really like the car, comfortable with the repayment plan...etc. You probably would have narrowed down to a few choices, and these freebies, like free petrol, parking etc, are only incentives to skew your decision towards a particular car.

It's generally safer to buy a bigger car so that it will cater for growth, both yourself  and your family.

This is really a zillion dollar question. You can get a better answer from those who bought such car in model specific forum. Like I said earlier, what matter most is that you must like the car.

That's about the market rate, all the banks here are cartel, just like oil companies.

Nowadays, it's impossible to judge which bank offers the best deal on the interest rate alone. The catch-phrase now is "crawback, cashback, rebate"

Basically your will be charged a slightly higher interest rate, and they will refund you a percentage (usually 30%) of the total interest, but there are certain conditions attached to it.

The easiest is to put these numbers into an Excel sheet to really see the real deal.

To buy or not to buy fundamentally depends on like or dont like, can afford or cannot afford.

Yes, all the "free" stuffs are actually paid by you.

Go to kia showroom, ask them about the list price. Is that the selling price? No, fat hope. if you wanted to pay cash and get own insurance. Guess what, you need to top up $1500 if you want to do that.

What about the cash rebate? The list price states 50K, the SE tells you got special cash rebate discount, the car is only 45k.. is it true? Where does the cash rebate comes from? From the extra high interest rates that you have to pay when you take high loan and long repayment period.
