LTA inspection after buying bike..

hi guys..i just bought my bike last 4 mths ago..but last night, i received a letter from LTA telling me to go for bike inspection before JAN 2008. is the procedure normal?cause from wat i understand,the bike shop should have brought the bike for inspection after i bought it, and before handing it over to me. therefore i should expect to receive my 1ST letter for inspection only after a year from the date i purchase the bike. is wat i state true??or should it be otherwise..?? do help and thanks alot guys!!

You assumed that the bikeshop has done the inspection for you or did the bike shop say they do inspection for you already? When does your road tax expire? From there you will know if you need to go for the inspection or not..But my guess is that you will need to go for the inspection..

Did u check ur road tax expiry? It shd coincide with inspection date i believe.

well i assumed that the bike shop has done e inspection before handing the bike over to me. that's supposed to be e procedure rite??correct me if i am wrong..coz most fellow riders i asked says that they received the 1st letter of inspection only after a year from the date of purchase.btw on my road tax it states, "VALID FROM:22 JUL 2007, EXPIRES ON:21 JAN 2008.. really appreciate the help guys..

When is yr bike registered?

is yr bikes more than 2 yrs on the road?

if it is u will be required to go for inspection on the 3rd year

and usually inspection notice will be sent 2 mths b4 da due date

well i'm not sure if my bike has been on e road for more than 2 years or not..but wat i can tell is that it's manufactured date for my bike was in 2002. and i am e 5th rider for e bike..that's all i can tell bro..

I think, u did not ask the bikeshop to extend ur road tax, which normally buyers would ask for. Dats why.

inspection goes together with ur road tax. once a year. lta send letter, u have no reason to oppose it. bo bian only can go back bikeshop and nag at them though i dun think they can do anything to help.
