Hi guys,

I recently got my 2b license and am considering my options for getting my first bike. I wanted to get a cbf150 but I realise that it's not easy finding a second hand one on sale. I am reluctant to buy a new one cos I want to gain some riding experience first before I invest in a new machine.

Just wondering if any of you can advise me on whether u have seen any second hand cbf150s on sale either in bike shop or anywhere else. How much would a reasonable price for second hand cbf150 be? And how much would a brand new one otr price be now?

Appreciate any info at all. Thanks so much.

Hi people,

My CBF is 15 months old already and I am happy with it. No breakdown, no problem, quiet and smooth kekeke. Only thing that puzzle me is how come my fuel consumption is 37km/l as compared to the 40ish that most of you claim to get. Thus I am interested in the Nov Melacca trip for the purpose(s) of:

1. Itchy want to travel far far. :p

2. Check out Fuel consumption issue.

3. Tune up bike and buy accessories in Malaysia on the cheap.

Well I was wondering is it because of my riding habits... fast pick up and average speed of 80-90km/h... that my FC is so bad compared to you guys?

Anyway, the top speed I see on my meter is 95km/h up gentle slope and 110km/h down gentle slope. Speed on GPS indicate 90km/h. But I won't trust the GPS because it tell me I am faster when I am slowing down...delayed data? Well, for the trip to Melacca, I guess I gotta find the GPS map for Malaysia. :)

haha... nice to know that. maybe first ting is ur own weight on the bike. wen i was pilion my male frend, max is 95kmh on flat road. pillion my gf, 105kmh on flat road. i alone 110kmh on flat road.(needs a looooooong time to reach the speed.) second ting is ur right hand throttle action and lastly consist of how well u tk cr of ur baby and wat brand of milk(E.O) u fed her...now left 1/4 on my tank. last update was 46.++km/l. cheers.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Actually if you believe the meter... my top speed is 110km/h on flat road. So yeah, speed is correct. But GPS say 100km/h nia.

As for riding style... I do change gear aggressively. Meaning I get to 90km/h from rest fast. But... got affect 20% of FC meh?

Milk? I always feed good quality milk one. Petrol also 95 one. And I measure FC by going from full tank to empty tank... eg. 400km travelled top up 10.8l = 37km/l. However, I only top up once every 10 days or so.

Am looking to change tyres, chain and brakes plus full servicing( coz 10000km soon)...

also looking to add side boxes or change 45l box to those courier type storage... looking into fleasibility of mods for USB power from engine to power GPS/webcam etc.

Wanna to have mass servicing in JB during 1st day of Melacca trip bo?

Don't want then I do in advance... any good shop to recommend in Singapore, JB or Batam?

hi guys,

wondering if u r able to give some advice on pricing.

is a second hand (registration aug'07) cbf150 priced at $3800 excluding insurance a good price?

how much will a brand new cbf cost now? is there a lot of difference?

thanks.

Posted

$3800 might as well buy a new CBF150... should not cost more than $4000 and financing is easier for a new bike.

Posted

thanks north pole. when you say a new cbf shouldn't cost more than $4000, are you talking about the otr excluding insurance?

roughly how much will insurance cost me? i'm trying to figure out what is the total amt i will need to spend if i buy a new cbf now. (i am 26 years old with no riding experience).

Posted

I think a brand new CPF can cost easily over 5K (all in including insurance, ERP unit, etc) depending on the COE price. Trying asking at Ban hon brothers or Bike production, their prices are quite competitive

Posted

Thanks to those who replied me. Need more advice as I am seriously considering buying this bike and I am a very new rider.

I called up Bike Production and they quoted me $4800 otr excluding I/U. I was reading earlier posts and saw that the same shop quoted $4300 in June. What could be the reason for price increase?

Is it possible to bargain for the price to be the same as in June? And is $4800 a good price for a new cbf or should I try looking at second hand?

Any advice? Thanks.

Frankly, you can't really go wrong with the CPF due to its ease of maintenance, good fuel consumption, reliability and brand name (its a Honda after all), unless you are looking for speed then it might be quite disappointing. So don't worry k

The difference in price may be due to the more expensive COE, and it seems that it will get higher as LTA has just reduced the quota to be issued. I don't think you can bargain anymore as Bike production is known to be quite competitive and upfront with their pricing.

As for whether a new bike is worth it, I guess its really up to you to decide. Which is more important? The 1K in savings or the feeling of riding a brand new bike? it varies from person to person

thanks theforce! i think i have a clearer understanding of prices and what i should be considering before i decide on 1st or 2nd hand. i will most prob get cbf unless i discover it's too heavy for me and i can't take it on/off main stand or something like that... right now my only experience is on the ybr in the driving centre.

I guess its a good bike to commute around. Perhaps, it would be advisable to rebuilt the front fork.

If you are interested in CBF150 second hand, just drop me a note. What I am riding now is my uncle's bike. He is not riding it that's why he passed it to me.

Black Colour, FBC plated, should be Oct 2007 bike.

I can ask him how much he want to sell. However, he will not sell at the bikeshop's price (i dunno how much).

Cheers
