1)anyone know how much is a linkage lowering kit for 01 model ?

2)is there supposed to be a flat spot @ 3rd gear between 3.5k-4k RPM

cause my bike seems to choke quite badly at that point

3)throttle lag ? is there such thing or is it supposed to be like that ...i open trottle but power only comes in about 1 second later ...like a sudden jerk 1 sec after i turn the throttle .

3)aftermarket exhaust ? which would be good to go for ? the stock one seem to sound like a SP

2 and 3 doesn happen to me.. using akrapovic slip on.. not bad quite nice exhaust..

eh by the way, your is the carb version right?

 

I rode m fren's Carb versiom... ultra smooth. Low end is so much better than the 06.

 

Backaches? not really for me ...but all sports bike i ride, my neck super ache! Think my neck not enough power to tahan the slant ablge

You just need alittle getting use to coming from super4. There shouldn't be a throttle lag or flat spot in the carb version. Bring it in for a carb service/tunning, you'll never know what the previous owner tunned the bike for then later strip off all the aftermarket stuff but not restoring the carb settings. Go to a reputable shop that specialises in class 2 sportbikes tunning. Can try K&T or Ubi Cycles.

Hi enHANZed,

 

I used to ride a 2000 model, carb version so should be the same as yours except for the cosmetics. Yes there is a flat spot from 3500-4000rpm. You won't notice it when you are accelerating through it, it is only noticable when you are in the flat spot and are trying to accelerate out of it. So what i did was to never stay in the 3500-4000rpm.

 

i think the throttle lack might be down to tuning. of course if you are riding at low rpm and suddenlly open the throttle fully you are gonna experience som lag.

but the flat spot is really bad ...it chokes at that point , i really need the lowering linkage kit man

i would love to BUT ...i dunt have any pointers to part with in the 1st place haha

 

i cant even park the bike properly now ...seems like the turning radius is so wide i cant turn in deep enought to enter the parking lot ....need to dismount to reverse ...lucky no body see

thats sports bike man. Needs a litle time to get used to it. When i first rod the R1, everytime park it in my first week riding, i end up stuck and have to push park all over again!

i only failed to park de 1st time.. de rest i turn very earlie liao.. rvf and de r6 got big big difference.. get used to it soon.. or if u don get used to it.. den sell de bike bah.. LOL

got my lowering linkage kit today @ regina for $100 including install ...now the rear is so low it looks weird BUT its very comfortable and riding posture is also improved ...not recommeded for trackies ...highly recommended for the vertically challenged...BTW lowering 1 1/2 inch is really alot man ...
