right now they are having a promotion, sign a 2 years/ 2 1/2 years broadband with 'em, get a free labtop.

right now i have a question. im not so much of a IT person, so any bro out there can guide me, and advice me which is of better value and which is better?

well, i got myself compaq from starhub last time.

now paying about 90$ per month, (it is Maxonline Ultimate 124$ before discount)

laptop is just so so... nothing special, but internet speed is damn slow.. :(

cant believe they claim 100Mbps.

i'll post the speed test results later.

on the other hand, my friend is using singnet, even he is paying about 50$, his dl rate is alot faster.

so, just check ur usage, game, movies or just surfing net ?

To keep it short, for me I'll chose the Starhub promotions because:

1) Bigger screen ( 15.4'' vs 12.1" )

2) Bigger RAM size ( 2GB vs 1GB )

3) More HDD storage ( 160GB vs 80GB )

4) Cheaper plan & shorter contract bond (12 Mbps plan @ S$65.06/mth for 24 mths vs 10 Mbps plan @ S$85/mth for 30 mths

fom what kmax has quoted, i believe the 12Mbps starhub will end up slower than the 10Mbps singnet. But looks like the starhub got better deal.

Btw, for the starhub plan, which has a better deal? the desktop or notebook?

it seems that the desktop is kind of slow and doesn't have any upgrade options.

well, if u want laptop, better buy good one at your own,

laptops are quite cheap already...

we cant expect much from freebies, just if happens to renew contract/get new line, then u can check for what's the package.

for TS queries, comparing 2 freebies, compaq laptop has higher HDD, memory.

but singnet speed very dedicatedly limited.if they give u 6mbps means give that only.will never give anything more.whereas starhub give more speed limit wherever possible. i was a singnet customer for many yrs.but have change to starhub liao lor. somemore singnet $85 for 30mths for a dell laptop. realli is sign on till u siao.other than the processor and the weight, everything else is nothing fantastic.confirm is waste money.
