Came across the immediate aftermath of a fatal bike accident along Woodlands Ave 3.

What look like pieces of a white GSX R was scattered all over both sides of the road. The bike literally broke in pieces. The results were horrific.

A police tent was set up on the opposing side of the road. Rider was already dead.

Saw someone trying to console a grieving Malay auntie by the roadside.

Based on what I saw, I can roughly guess how the accident happened.

Rider exited the BKE at the Woodlands New Town Exit. He turned right towards Marsiling MRT. I am guessing he was on the right lane but couldn't keep within his lane while turning right and veered slightly left in the 2nd lane.

The problem with the 2nd lane is that roadworks has been done recently and it was patched up rather sloppily with uneven surfacing and even metal plating. The bitumen patch runs length wise along the entire stretch of 2nd lane.

On my deauville, I had to slow down and control my bike carefully over the uneven surface. The bumps were unsettling at speeds over 60kmh and your steering will veer whenever your front wheel run length-wise along the edge of the patching.

Unfortunately, the rider may have realised this too late. He probably ran across the patches, his bike started wavering towards the lane to his right from the bumps. He panicked and jammed his brakes. The wavering S-shaped skid marks started on the right lane and ended at a damaged tree 30 metres later.

Various bike parts were scattered as much as 20 metres away from point of impact.

Tragic.

4D-addicts have no way of finding out the bike license number. The bike totally chui.

The trees lining the centre kerb may have stopped the accident from getting even worse. They protected the motorists on the other side of the road from the worst of the impact.

Please do not speed. Especially on unfamiliar roads. Even on familiar roads. You never know when the LTA contractors will dig on your regular route home.

Thanks for sharing thou.Aniways,to your conclusion, did the rider lose control of his bike totally and self skid or the rider head on with any of the trees, etc?

Lost of control is certain.

Looks like he e-braked, tried to control the skidding from e-braking, bike lost traction with the road surface and went straight for the tree in the centre kerb.

30 metres of tyre skid marks before the tree. He must have been going pretty fast.

1) did u mean under seat the two pcs black colour side cover? to buy new, each pc around $200. for engine body cover(big pc) cost around $1k each. but if send it to d fibergalss and painting, cost around $20(small pc black colour side cover) and $200(big pc engine side cover) this price is if no missing any broken parts.

2)

i. oil filter loosen, tighten up is ok, cost $0.

ii. coolent pump inside the oil o-ring need to replace, the o-ring cost $3.50, at same time, normally the coolent pump's coolent o-ring also need to replace, or soon will leak coolent. the coolent o-ring cost $4.50

iii. camshaft cover gasket need to replace, 1 cyclinder set of camshaft gasket cost $20.

iiii. engine body or transmission part also may problem, but untill now i havent found 1 case in our deauville group.

Wah did not knw dat deauville bodyparts cost dat much... 2) dun tink its oil filter loose as the oil leak is not directly at the filter but someware near dat area, hope is not engine case crack or else big headache rite.

Sorry, I can't make it to the meet last night. I was planning to ...

Last night, myy bike stalled after going over a road bump. It refused to start afterwards. You can hear the cranking but the engine just would not start. Some motorist suggested that my fuel tank may be empty (not likely since I only topped up 2 days back.). To my horrors, I couldn't open the fuel cap. The key turns but the fuel cap refused to budge.

It took 10 mins of fiddling before the cap would open with a huge HISS. Visual check the fuel tank is almost full.

The bike started as per normal after the visual inspection.

The issue was really weird and I took the bike to my mech who diagnosed it as a blocked run-off pipe. The same HISS came when he opened the fuel cap. He stick his air gun into the run-off valve and blow really hard into it. Around 50ml of brown gunk were blown right out of the escape valve below the seat.

Apparently, a vacuum was slowly forming when the run-off valve was blocked. Air could not get into the fuel tank and with the lowering fuel level, the problem got to a point where fuel could not be fed into the engine. Hence the engine died.

So get your mech to blow the fuel run-off valve every time you change the engine oil. It will keep the pipe clear .
