Damn, just discovered a long crack running across my front fairing this morning. Looks like a visit to Planet Motor...

The 650 can run for 20 years with minimum maintenance but the fairing gets as brittle as a biscuit!

Yup, that's why I am planning to get rid of fairing (at least the front portion) and make this into a naked bike... The more I think about it, the more i want to do it. Thou last weekend I took out the fairing and see look see look how it might look without fairing... some will find it ugly, but for sure it will look much more slimmer as the fairing really makes the bike looks bigger and rounder. I am trying to see whether I can keep the "lion head" so that I can use back the original meter but trim down the head and get rid of the 2 glove compartment just below the handle bar. Intention is to expose as much of the engine as possible to have good view if there is leaks, easier maintenance and also should run cooler (i hope). Gonna change to hella horn with relay cos now the original horn really can not make it when I have headlights on. Also headlight not bright enough when travelling dark in NSH, so might install those after market spot light, like those Sam have. But I think the most costly thing is that the fuel tank need to modify to cover up the "holes" that use to be covered by the fairing.

Anyone got spare cab-kei (wave) that I can borrow while my bike goes thru all these plastic surgery? haha :)

Thanks Alfred, today I just check with the bike shop who have inform me that to mod the bike to naked version will need LTA approval!!! Anyone have any experience on this? Anyway he also says I can appeal to LTA that the bike is old and fairing is crack and agent don't carry stock anymore. So called LTA and now waiting for them to get back to me tomorrow regarding this. If really not possible, I might just not renew the COE and sell the bike for export. Oh well...

Hi,

NT700 riders, What is your average fuel comp for local use ?? i getting 303km for 15L of petrol is it normal??

i am getting abt 330+ for near 16L. So should b normal. :)

Maybe 650 might be slighly higher compared to NT700 as it is caburretor feed while 700 is fuel injected.

I get around 19-20kmpl for normal riding in Sg roads. The recent trip from Hatyai where I was riding at 160 to 170kmpl gave me abt 18km per litre. Surprisingly the Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 ( which travelled with me )consumption is almost similar to my NT700.....

that was on highway consumption, how about in Sg city road consumption? if also similar with NT700, should not la, right?

NT700 been riding for a week plus, seat comfortable , wind shield good, find that handle bar a bit low for me need to fix Raiser. Anyone got idea?? where to fix how much??

After you fix raiser, please remember to change your clutch cable to a bit longer type ( you can use varadero 1000 cable to mod),,

you may like to drop by Sin Boon motor,

Hi all, just back from a trip to Cherating. Was a good ride, but unfortunately on the way home, my front tire valve failed along the Karak highway. Puncture kit is of no use here. Luckily managed to find a kampung bike shop whose mech tried his best and able to remove the front tire without the proper equipments. Have to say its partly my fault for not investing on high quality valves. So to those of u going for a long ride, do ensure the valves are in good condition...Some pics

Always ensure that whenever you change both your tires, the mechanic concerned has to change the tire valve as well, irrespective of whether it is still usable or not. In this way, your tire valves will always be in good condition and you will ride in peace.
