The 160/60 - lower and broader profile tyre - means to me, a safer ride. I am thinking of changing to that for my next rear tyre change. A mechanic told me that my NT700V can be fitted it.

Bros, please share you opinion on this - Thanks.

It's the only way to go if you want a wider tyre choise. The 150/70-17 rear is really rare here, so forget about selecting a specific model and then expect the local shop to be able to order it.

Dunlop GT501 and Bridgestone BT45 in the low end (below $300 for a set) seems to be pretty easy to get, but if you want to spend $400 and more on a higher performance tyre, you have to ask around what is availible (I was offered Bridgestone BT020 and Metzeler Z6, nothing else)

Considering the style and horsepower of the Deauville and the Singapore roads, I decided that a BT45 would do just fine for me...

Bro Hippo might be able to enlighten you on these issues regarding tyres and rims.

NT700 original tire size is 150/70R17, if changed to 160/60R17,

the size of the new tires will be slightly smaller by -2.8% only,

so it is not much lower than the original size, about 9mm (321-312mm) lower that is

see below comparison-

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/km Difference

150/70-17 105mm 321mm 642mm 2016mm 496 0.0%

160/60-17 96mm 312mm 624mm 1960mm 510 -2.8%

Miata.net Tire Size Calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

but i don't think it will affect the speedo reading

cos the speedo cable is attached to the front tires,

unless you change the front tire too

however i am in the opinion that the wider tire,

160 compared to 150 may have better road holding...

cheers

I have try to put in wider tyre in my old bike before, riding is ok but wear very fast and a bit worry is NT650 inner fairing is to close to the tyre. now I am using Bridgestone BT 023 from HKL.

(Can't Remamber what model but I know is Metzeler)

Thanks, Honda Rider for kicking off the subject:

So far Michelin Pilot Road 2 is a 2 compound tyre that is hard in the middle and soft on both sides. It is good for Wet and Dry road

Red, thanks. I notice the Sports Bikes have broader tyres for good reasons:

however i am in the opinion that the wider tire,

160 compared to 150 may have better road holding..

Nilist, Thanks! for good source information :

It's the only way to go if you want a wider tyre choise.

Hippo, thanks for sharing from your own user experience perspective. Btw, is it of 2CT ( two compound type)and Pilot Road 2?:

riding is ok but wear very fast and a bit worry is NT650 inner fairing is to close to the tyre.

Wow, keep rolling in your opinions bros!

Very good buy. I had 2 deauvilles. just sold mine a few months ago. because i am a bit short, it is difficult to put my legs down so i wear sport shoes. if u are below 168cm , that is what i suggest. because dv is heavy front end, i caution when going down hill. i very very nearly drop on high slope like the parking slope at international plaza.Good price u got there. i hope it doesnt have much cracks like i saw in many shops. i also thinking getting back to dv but maybe cut the seat abit lower. my dv had almost 20-22 km/litre. ahhhhhh. wish didnt sell it.

Age? Km?

Pictures would help, but it sounds cheap assuming it's not a wreck

Welcome to the Deauville Club. Current PQP for Motorcycle is $1567. Effectively you only paid $3000 for the machine. Quite a good price.

My Deauville is almost 9 years old and is quite trouble free. Only the rectifier and speedo cable were changed. The bike is quite heavy, so need to be careful when pushing it around. Dropped it once while trying to negotiate a u-turn in a back alley with uneven surface. Almost couldn't get it back up. Fortunately there was a helpful passerby to help me lift it back up. Currently may have some problem with the fuel pump or the fuel cock. Cannot let the fuel run down to reserve level, otherwise it may stall. Easy solution is to refuel at around 10-12 liters mark or around 180-200km.

Make sure you get a good mechanic who knows Deauville. You can try Ah Siong at Yi Yang Motors at 438 Pasir Panjang Rd Singapore 118779. It's at the corner of Clementi Road and Pasir Panjang Road, near Fong Seng Nasi Lemak. He services my Green NT650 as well as a few other Deauvilles. He knows what parts would fit a Deauville even if they are for other Honda models.

I'm 1.67m tall and I have no problem with the seat height. But then again my first bike was a scrambler, Suzuki PE175. Once you get going, the bike feels quite agile. Can match most bike squeezing between cars on the highway during peak hours.

Happy CNY to all bros..

Here's an update of my NT.

Bike is 10 years old,FT plater.Mileage is ard 71k.Bike was laid up for 2 years before i bought it.Black in colour.Found the engine to be really smooth. Not sure if its in good condition or not.

Here are some questions that i would to ask.

1.Is it normal for the gear lever to have freeplay whilst in 1st gear?

2.What is the normal ideling range for the bike?

3.Where can i adjust the ideling?

4.And does anyone has NT manual?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you bro Hippo...My front have sweking sounds on low speed particularly going up and down MSCP slopes...What can it be due to?Fork? or the cone bearing? And usually after riding, there is this particualr smell from the exhaust like engine oil buring,is this normal or the piston ring is wearing out?

And any particular brand of engine oil to recommend? I was thinking to taking apart some of the faring and tank to 'study' the engine and at the same time do some visual checking, any advise on what to look out for whilst i am taking the farring out?

Thank you again peeps..
