Thank you bro Hippo...My front have sweking sounds on low speed particularly going up and down MSCP slopes...What can it be due to?Fork? or the cone bearing? And usually after riding, there is this particualr smell from the exhaust like engine oil buring,is this normal or the piston ring is wearing out?

And any particular brand of engine oil to recommend? I was thinking to taking apart some of the faring and tank to 'study' the engine and at the same time do some visual checking, any advise on what to look out for whilst i am taking the farring out?

Thank you again peeps..

Perhaps you would like to check it out with more1978 ( bro Ah Mao ). He had even strip down his NT650 completely to the bare bone and changed most of the parts by himself. He is very well verse with NT650. For decorating and mounting of gadgets, Bro Hippo is very good at it...hahahah...bro...no hard feelings...:cheeky:

welcome u join deauville @ sg!

front have sweking sound may come from break pad and disc, if sound not so big, then no need to do something. but if sound come from disc and fork, then need adjust distance. bearing normally wont gives u much trouble. oil smell? if smoke is white, means valve need repair, it's a big job; if not, may gasket need to change, this is very common in deauville bike; but i think u don worry too much, maybe because you just buy the bike, bike shop b4 you buy, just painting enging, smell come from the new painting.

what brand oil? no command...

to take out fairing, u need very careful some joint points, the fairing is very easy break; and take out fuel tank first, then both side fairing, much easier.

Hi All

I am sure everyone had their fair share of pineapple tarts and what not.

Just like to share some DV stuff that I notice. I remember asking what grade engine oil to use and was recommended 10-40 and that has been good so far. But just before CNY, I went for oil change (too lazy to do myself) at Unique and they recommended Rev-zero 15-50 and said that its a thicker oil and should be better for DV engine which runs hot in our weather. So I thought what the hack try lah. And for CNY i had a short trip to Ipoh with my wife for a short getaway to try out this grade of oil.

I must say I like 50 better. Thou the engine does seems to run noisier but gear change is smoother, much smoother actually. I use to have problem going into neutral after I stop at traffic light or park my bike, normally when I park, I just kill the engine and then kick into neutral but now with 50 oil, neutral is possible even when engine is running. Also thou the engine seems to be noisier, it does feel smoother on NSH, I was travelling between 110-140km/hr full loaded with pillion. Also in the morning, warming up the engine seems to be easier.

I must clarify that this is just my personal observation and opinion and also needs to justify that during the oil change, the shop also recommended a engine flush for $20 which i did. So it might be the flushing that have clean the engine up and not the 15-50 oil that have cause all the benefit as mention above.

Well my next oil change will be 15-50 again and see how it perform again lor.

Anyone who wants a short getaway, I strongly suggest Ipoh, thou not much shopping but the food is GREAT! and cos my wife and I are the adventure type so we did caving at Gua Tempurung, getting all wet and dirty but super fun, durian from road side, Bread Chicken from Kampur and visit Charcoal factory at Sepetang. The riding up to Ipoh was bad cos it rain the whole way staring from Woodland custom! By the time we reach ipoh we were all wet even thou we had rain coat on.

Some pics for viewing!

Thank you for the advises..The squeking sounds are from the haldle area not the tyre area..In which i assume its the cone bearings..and since its a 10 years old bike, i might as well change the cone bearings and the 2 wheel bearings as well.
