Hi folks, here my review of the PowerBronze Flipscreen for my NT700.

It a direct replacement and installation was just a breeze.

The dimensions of the flip screen is 450mm x 625mm as compared to the standard NT700 Screen size of 450mm x 550mm. Its 75mm taller.

 

Due to my height (1.8m), I experienced wind blast from eye level upwards, causing alot of wind noise. although set at the highest position on the standard screen.

 

My original intention was to find a replacement screen that can get rid of the irritating wind noise.

 

1st Test

Tested it last night 10pm at CTE cruising at 80-90kmh on a short 5km trip.

The screen is set at the highest position. When sited upright, I am looking over the screen and not tru it.

The taller screen did remove most of the wind noise from eye level upwards. However, i still encounter some wind noise from the top of the helmet when I sit upright. When crouched slightly, there is little or no wind blast, but i can feel that I was enveloped in a pocket of air. I could feel the warm air from the engine bay. It was around 10pm and I am not sure if it would be hot during day time start and stop situations, will feedback on this soon.

 

I will be testing it at higher speed this afternoon again.

Heard from a Bridgestone staff that they will be increasing the prices of car tyres by 30% at the end of the month due to higher cost of production. Not too sure if it will apply to motorcycle tyres, but most probably it will. Change your tyres soon if you are thinking of it.

All products from Japan will increasing due to yen, this is why I change my tyre, the shop guy say it will the price will go up to $500 per pair.

2nd Test

Yesterday went on a road test of the new PowerBronze Flip Screen.

Route - TPE > SLE >TPE

Cruise at around 100kmh at around 4.30pm. Engine heat did not make me uncomfortable.

Not much difference from traveling at 80-90kmh.

 

On returned trip at 9pm @100kmh, same as before.

The wind noise is bearable. I slowed down to ard 80-90kmh

and I am enjoying the ride, there was a soft whisper ( wind noise) which is quite bearable.

 

Conclusion

 

Although the new PowerBronze did not completely remove the wind noise, it did however make my ride more pleasant.

I must say its is worth the investment of $180 (before group discount) for the Flip Screen for NT700.

The 650 does have a green speedo backlight, however it is quite faint.... if yours is totally dark then the speedo LEDs might have blown.
